How to take care of curly hair. straightening is not the only answer. 

It’s important for hairstylist to know and understand how to treat different hair types. Happy that he’s learning. I thought about living in South Korea a few years ago but was definitely concerned about where and whom I could trust to take care of my hair. I imagined having to drag a closet full of my own products and give a step by step tutorials 😭

This is so cool. As a black woman with type 4 hair I love seeing other curly girls. I’ve never come across a Korean with naturally curly hair of this curl pattern. It’s beautiful! I’m glad she rocks her curls. Her curl pattern is similar to what I have in the back of my head. Like most curly haired people I have more than one curl pattern. The back, sides & top are all different haha it’s a lot but I love it.

It took me so long to accept my curly hair being a biracial girl (half white, half black), and see a Korean accepting her curls make me feel so happy!! It's a relief when you finally realize that your hair It's pretty and can stop hiding your curls. I hope in the future more and more people with curly hair start to show it proudly in Asia EDIT: just to clarify, because some people can't read a text properly 🙄, I DIDN'T ACCEPTED MY CURLY HAIR BECAUSE OF AN ASIAN GIRL, I was just trying to express my happiness toward Asians accepting their natural hair. I started to like my curls 4 years ago because of black Brazilian women.

As a girl with wavy hair, this video made me really happy to see that straight hair isn't the only way to go. Too many stylists recommend just straightening and it's really frustrating. This gave me hope.

한국인들도 정도의 차이지 곱슬기있는 모발이 절반을 넘어요. 미용실가면 곱슬이 죄인처럼 느끼게끔 반응에 늘 움츠려들게 하면서 곱슬머리를 전문적으로 관리하는 법은 가르쳐주질 않고 매직만 강요받죠. 국내는 제품조차 직모위주 혹은 안티 곱슬위주라 구매도 힘들고 시행착오로 포기할까도 많이 생각했지만 곱슬머리컬을 생각해서 컷해주시는 디자이너분 만나서 만족중이에요. 전용제품 출시 부탁해요!!

I'm so happy to see more people finally getting into loving their natural curly hair, and learning to manage it. there are so many videos out there on youtube to learn. So there is no excuse, if you want to learn, the information is right here. glad to see people are getting more interested. I think everyone should learn the basics so the inappropriate comments can stop. I think if more people in Korea would wear their natural hair, you'll notice how many have natural curly hair and it will be normalized.

I kind of love that she was educating him about curly hair. She really has a good understanding of good methods to use. Her hair has a slightly tighter curl than mine, and her method isn't that dissimilar from mine. He really did a great job listening to her too. I think, once her hair gets a little longer, she'd look great with a little bit of extra layering. Not a lot, but it will help give her hair some great shaping and it will look better on its own instead of relying on the pigtails.

Ok, this makes me so happy. I wish American salons were this diverse in their learning. Only in a black salon can a white and black woman walk in and hair fresh hair. Most of our white salons don’t care to learn. The salon artist that knows all hair types gets paid the most. Js. I love Korea people. They seem to always be up for learning and trying to move past stereotypes. This is some racism in Korea still but a lot of the younger generation are combatting it. It’s really nice. I love this girls hair and how kind they are learning about how it works and how she maintains it. I also love the video with the American black girl they too. You guys are AWESOME!!!!

I also have an aunt who has the same type of curls, and yes, she is asian. Cause she didn't know how to take care of it, her curls weren't healthy but it sure did look pretty. I loved the volume of it. And sadly, she straightened her hair cause it was more convenient. My dad also had curls even though he was Asians. His curls are bigger but looks very good. Although I don't have curls, I have wavy hair though I had straight hair as a kid. Hair is really interesting, like my aunt's parents didn't have any curls nor did my grandparents from my dad side.

I love seeing this. As a foreigner living in Korea I stand out. I’m bi-racial and with my curly hair I really stand out. In fact, I have been wearing my hair in buns for most of my time here because I thought it looked more professional (and it’s hot). I wanted to get my hair straightened but was afraid of going to a Korean salon and they would think I want a magic perm and not just a straightening with a blow dryer. It’s scary because I don’t think Korean hair stylist are informed enough in curly hair for me to put my trust into something I have been growing my entire life. I had the fun this past week of letting my hair down and my students were just like Kiu-wanting to touch it, pull a curly and let it go. One even asked if she could braid my hair. 😂 It’s great to see a curly haired Korean embracing her curls. I think all of us curly girls around the world struggle with that as it takes time and patience to manage and to learn how to do that. Curly girls are so lucky now there is a community to help them.

저도 곱슬이라 관리법 몰랐는데 채소님 유튜브보고 관리법을 알게 되어 관리를 하고있답니다~~ㅎ 전 채소님과는 다른 유형의 곱슬이라 약간 다르긴하지만 완전 도움이 됐었는데 이렇게 다른 채널에서 뵙게 되니 새롭네요^^

I know it might be a rare hair type in Korea, but I hope more products will be available for curly hair people in Korea and Asia in general. As a foreigner watching Korean content, I only see curly hair as a joke or to copy black styles. I'm happy to actually see someone with naturally curly hair who isn't trying to make fun of it! And I'm glad overseas curly content is helping others who might not have that🥺 Anyone can have curly hair it's just more rare for some than it is for others. I hope everyone can respect each other and help each other with their individual needs.

I think it would be so cool if Kiu did a short series learning and showcasing types of curly hair, it would be great content and would add to his skill set and knowledge!

It’s really nice seeing how excited and curious he is about her hair. I wish I had her confidence. My curls bother me to the point I’ll just burst into tears. It just looks so dorky and awkward on me. I hate being seen as cute, so it really bothers me when people call me that, so I pull it straighter, but it stresses me out 24/7 I also just don’t have the time to style it with this much care. I have 5 minutes, max, to do my hair.

I’m half black and half white and my hair is exactly like hers naturally but I’ve been getting straight perms in Japan now for 4 years but it’s so nice seeing her embrace her curls. I hope one day I have the confidence to do the same~

As someone with a similar hair pattern I really have loved this video. And the questions were very predictable yet still respectful which I am not used to, as many people in Austria ask me the same questions all the time but in a very rude manner. They often just touch my hair and wipe their hands after, without asking my permission. However it’s nice to see how relatable hair can be without the difference of ethnicity, borders or country. Why am i so happy right now. As a person with type 4 hair it honestly is really nice to see someone with curly hair come on the channel and educate people on how to take care of it. I some how feel represented because it always had people with straight hair or people with curly hair but wanted to straighten it on the channel and I hope you do more videos like this in the future because it was fun😁

This is cool. Wasnt expecting such a tight curl pattern or an afro . I'm proud of her embracing her natural curl pattern. Tell her to get a satin bonnet or satin pillowcase to sleep on to preserve her curls so she only has to refresh her curls woth a light misting and a tiny bit of gel or condition the next day. I usually style mine 1x or 2x a week and then refresh daily as needed ( usually just the back of my head) . I have coily hair ( type 3c,4a and 4b with a small section of 4c)

ah her curls are so pretty. I used to have a lot of curls, similar pattern to hers, just "wrap around your thumb" rather than "wrap around your pinky". Growing up it was frizz city because my mother had stick-straight hair and we just didn't know, right up until I started leaving in a little of my keratin conditioner, and stopped brushing it when dry, and suddenly I had what looked like a spiral perm, which was very popular in the late 80s. Knowing how to handle my curls completely shifted my relationship with my hair until it changed too much due to illness. It's too short for much curl now, but for a long time I was wearing it braided to keep it from tangling.

곱슬인 1인입니다. 작년쯤 매직 안하고 1년 버티다 머리자르러 미용실 갔다가 미용사분이 무슨 자신감으로 매직 안하고 다니냐는 말 듣고 충격 받은적이 있었는데 갑자기 꿀밤때려지고 싶네요 ㅎㅎ 전체 매직 한번 하고나면 꾸준히 2~3개월 주기로 뿌매 해줘야 하는데 진짜 스트레스 입니다 ㅠㅠ 나름 곱슬에 만족하며 살고있었는데 지금은 다시 매직하고 다녀요 ㅎㅎ 영상 잘 보고 갑니다^^

Reading through the comments, I think we need to show people a chart of what straight, wavy, curly, and coily/kinky hair looks like...because there seems to be some misunderstandings going on

This video makes me so happy ☺️. There is a whole science behind curly hair and it can be intimidating for anyone of any ethnicity. I have very dense "coily" (4c) hair that when wet looks like a short afro but straightened is past my armpits. I think it would be fun to let Kiu do my hair.

원래 동양인들도 곱슬머리 제대로 관리하면 외국인들처럼 저런 곱슬머리도 가능하대요 저렇게 땡글땡글 곱슬말고도 일반적으로 생각하는 자연스런 웨이브도 가능하다는데 우리나라는 무조건 곱슬머리는 매직해야된다!!라는 이미지라서 아쉬운거 같아요..
