How To Take Care Of Zebra Finches 

I have had my Zebra Finch for nearly 9 years. He sings. He's Happy. I love my little Pepper.

I just purchased a male and female couple of zebra finches and I'm trying to learn as much as I can about their care and health so they're happy. This video was very informational and I'll be sure to utilize it to the best of my abilities.

Mirrors are bad for any bird, as this can cause plucking and psychological problems within the bird.

All that stuff is unnecessary. They want to sell you more stuff. I used to breed Zebra Finches. Cutlebone,gravel,a good Budgie or Canary seed mixture is sufficient,water every day and different size of purches . Do not feed too much greens they get the runs. If you keep the cage clean you don't need mite spray. The most important thing she forgot is draft do not place birdcage in a drafty area or direct sunlight. These critters are hardy and of course chatty lol.For a gage I would not recommend a square cage rather a long one so the can fly back and forth.

To prevent boredom. Then what are the birds in the back playing with.

Zebra finches are birds which hull their seed which means to remove the outer shell before eating, because they do this unlike birds such as pigeons they do not need Grit to aid their digestion, a pigeon will eat it seed shell and all and use grit and small stones in its crop to wear down the seeds shell, a zebra finch removes this outer shell before eating its seed there removing the need for grit.

I never enjoyed listening to her as i did watching her! Shes lovely!! Hope i work with her when i am done studying! lol

will they really fly back to their cage to use the toilet? i've never had a bird of any kind so i have a ton of questions.

actually my zebra finches do use there toys and mirrors and they use them frequently and would be bored with out them, they also Love there Bath Time

@nelsonmora15 Don't worry they will eventually use it. I give mine some cotton balls, and tissue paper at first as well, they didn't use it either. Then, I give them about a day and they started to figure out what it's for. Don't worry, just give them some time to figure out what it's for. :)

PLEASE HELP ME:I am a bird dealer & here in my town no avian vet available I generly treat my bird with medicines from my own experience & didn't have any problem for many years, I am doing it for few years, but recently few of my finche's droppings are exactly look like the seed they r having,thr dropping are not normal and looks like the same seed I feed them, and they fluffed up and sit and don't behave like before, I never encountered such problem, and donno how to treat it properly thats why seeking help from you, I am from India(from a small town),please suggest proper treatment and medicine's name for my finches,awaiting your reply and thanks in advance.

The idea of giving grit to a finch is antiquated. They do not need grit...in fact if they consume too much it could be fatal.

Und ja leider seiht man fast nicht mer gross. Käfige Und Vögel werden fast nicht mer verkauft schade sogar Fressnapf nur noch auf Hund Katzen Und wenn’s Vögel hat mal im Verkauf leider weite Reisen Bis nächst Stadt. A cuttlebone is actualy not enough calcium for your female when she Lays a cluch (3-5) of eggs
