They cut-out the best part of this scene, where the Lord Marshal says, "Are you familiar to me? ... Have we met on some distant field?" To which Riddick responds, "You'd think I'd remember." And the Lord Marshal replies, "You'd think I would too."

This scene is missing a few parts that are in the full unrated version. Riddick stabs him like three times, with the last one in the heart. You can see the knife when he is falling down the stairs.

@@JustWasted3HoursHere no it wasnt. They both same as good. Together with the games Escape from butcher Bay and Dark Athena, its a legendary 4 part series. The 3rd movie was okay too but you see the budget contrains. So instead of seeing the underverse or Riddick as Master of Necromongers for a whole movie, we instead saw practically a remake of the first movie to give the fans something. Well I hope the real sequel they planned comes out even tho Vin is like 50 now and with a as great budget as the second one
@@JustWasted3HoursHere Pitch Black is a different movie. It's executed more in the vein of a sci-fi horror movie. Chronicles is more like a sci-fi fantasy, the experience is quite similar to reading a fictional novel.
You could also in hindsight see how he didnt want to glorify his leader whom he wanted to replace. It was subtle but there once you know to look for it.
This movie was way underrated, and didn't get the credit it deserved. It was a really cool sequel to Pitch Black, and did a good job of progressing/telling Riddick's story.
Cool Fact: Vin Diesel plays/played Dungeons and Dragons. There's a video of him on here (RU-vid) where he sits down and plays with others. It's pretty cool to see the raspy voice everyone thinks of sit down and play a game like D&D. He even said that he enjoys playing, hopefully he'll come back and do some more videos (probably not but it's nice having what we got).
+Kevin Chapman If youre familiar with the Riddick timeline, there actually is an entire period of time before slam city that Riddick spent partially as a ranger and the other half a criminal. Theres plenty of Riddicks universe to fleshed out, in fact Vin Diesel hinted on his instragram that David Twohy is writing another movie and a tv series.
kristoffer enriquez Riddick did become the Lord Marshal yes, but for a short time. Riddick never wanted to go to the Underverse and Vaako(Karl Urban) betrayed him and went himself. Vaako is the Lord Marshal of the NecroMongers and Riddick’s story was kinda unfinished. All this is in the movie titled, Riddick, the sequel to, The Chronicles of Riddick. Check it out 👍

One of my favorite Sci Fi movies, didn't like the ending, I must admit, but the moment in which he became the Lord of the Necromongers was absolutely stunning.
Riddick, in this movie not in the last, is my favourite character at all !!!!!!!!! The INCOMMENSURABLE SHITTY necromonger are the best representation of the evil I've ever seen !!!!!!!!!!

I love the lord Marshal zhylaw armor paving the way for all the previous ones. Covu the transcended. Oltovm the builder. Naphemil the navigator. Baylock the brutal (my favorite). Kryll the one who brought the quasi-deads. No I didnt just read this. I did a long time ago. Just a huge fan. I wanna see more necromongers in the next riddick. They are awesome.
Reminds me of a scene from a book I read once, where this somewhat arrogant King had called a badass assassin type to his throne room and was kind upset the assassin didn't kneel: King - Such ill manners, you do not kneel before a king? Assassin - I kneel before no man, king or otherwise. I never have. King - You stand in my throne room surrounded by my best troops. I can force the issue... Assassin - You may try. Other kings have done so on occasion. King - And, what was the result? Assassin - Their successor is always disinclined to make the same mistake. I do not kneel.
The guy who's soul got taken is played by Canadian actor Christopher Heyerdahl who plays in many sci-fi movies and Tv series and which you might also know as The Swede in the series "Hell on Wheels."
I must have seen this clip a couple dozen times at the least, and today I asked myself why I keep coming back to see it again. Ohhhh that's right... "If you say so." Cracks me up every time. :-)
This is one of 'those' movies. Vast parts of it are near perfection, but then there are bits that make 'cringe' seem not strong enough. The sets, costumes and world-creation were outstanding! Great acting, embarrassing dialogue.
I was just saying this. You can tell Vin has a deep love for sci-fi and his influences are plain to see. There's so much potential in this but that dialogue, like you said, is terrible. He wants to make a Dune, Metabarons, 40k thing but all those franchises are a thing.
lol I just now realized that the actor that played the "defiant citizen" is the same actor that played the second version of Alastair on Supernatural. My, how behind the times am I? lol
As an actor, i think that Vin Diesel is very limited, he have his archetype and that's all, a grumpy mass of muscles, and for other actors it actualy worked to be that way, like Stallone and Shwarzenegger, but for some others it just don't, like Steven Seagal, and in this situation, i would put Bom Diesel on the same boat as Steven. Buuut whats fair is fair. This movie was basicaly made for him, but it's not bad, actualy they tried to make a new scy-fi universe, with planets and races, and it's the most diverse that exists but it's cool, and the Vin Diesel archetype just fits insanely well in this movie.
If there's something that this scene can teach, is that there are people who, under the banner of "unity" and "progress", will use physical or verbal violence to force you to change and become like them. Never confuse unity with uniformity.
Yeah to be fair the first two movies were early 2000's but 99% of the cgi holds up today. The knife scene here and when Kyra is swinging down the rope in prison are the only iffy bits that stand out to me.
i like this original cut more then the extended one,showing riddick to be more badass to end "one of the best" with a single strike,instead of several strikes
Necromongers don't feel pain, that's why they are such formidable warriors. For him the dagger must be like having a wrinkle in your underwear: Uncomfortable, but nothing too fret about. Plus he can't really reach easily that dagger hahaha
Especially because Riddick became the Lord Marshal at the end and on the beginning of the third movie "BANG" he was suddenly left to die by them and didnt even get his revenge.
