Wes Siler heads to Yellowstone National Park to show you how to safely and responsibly get great photos of wildlife on your phone. Siler is shooting through the new ultralight Maven S2 spotting scope, which provides a magnification range of 12X to 27X in an 11-inch-long package that weighs just 34 ounces. And he connects it to his Google Pixel 3 XL using a Phone Skope adaptor. You can rent similar optics and the attachment from services like Explore Rentals in Bozeman, Montana, or purchase the Phone Skope and attach it to any optics you may already own. The upshot: you can achieve similar results for very little money, and in so doing, you'll be getting better photos of animals without influencing their behavior by approaching too closely. This setup will work just as well off your back deck at home as it will in the park.

How to avoid vignetting (black border around the image) when you use this method? I see in the video that there is no vignetting shown in the phone viewfinder, but can’t tell if it is digitally zoomed in or not. My setup has a vignetting problem and I can only get rid of by digital zoom in which is not ideal.

@@usmanhaider1867 so far I have found no real solution, other than digitally zooming in, which basically equates to cropping out of the black border using photoshop or similar apps. The image become much smaller in the end.

There's no way to remove vignetting on mobile clip on lenses unless you can find a way to optical reduce your sensor's FOV

Would this work with binaculars and videos ? I have a 8x42 somewhere around my house and I’m starting to film wildlife. Is it good enough for it or it’s just for photos not video

You certainly can get close up images. And I’m sure a ton of people are thankful for your tips! They’re actually great! But, I would urge you not to say that they are almost as good as a professional photographer. It’s a bit insulting to their craft. Their images need atmosphere, good lighting, moments of hunting, mating, and other wild behaviours. Not something you can achieve just by getting a longer focal length.
