HOW TO TAKE NOTES WHILE READING 

"...and the next thing you find yourself on twitter for.." me in my head: 3 hours, yes, same! "....30 minutes" oh. maybe i should get my shit together.

I make notes about my reactions too. Once I did that for a school book and my teacher was grading my notes and ended up writing my mom a concerned email because she thought afesmfkfnfk was some kind of wierd curse word.

I really hope u can see this comment *THE BEST WAY TO TAKE NOTES WHILE READING* is actually to *voice record* ur notes on ur phone So if ur reading a book and wanted to take a note or tell ur feeling u can just record them with ur screams and emotions about that part :"D so that u don't feel distracted from the book And then after finishing the book listen to these records and write ur note down and ur done :"D Hope that helped

who else has never taken notes while reading?

For me, the best way to make note taking easy and fun is by just writing in the book. Then I put a sticky note on every page I've written on. I can easily find any line or freak out moment without having to halt everything to scribble the line down or something!

I'm the WORST at taking notes while reading, so this is actually super helpful. a+++

Every time I tell myself I'm gonna make notes I end up forgetting, I even have stickers and everything by my bed but nope, the moment I am in the books the world doe's not exist anymore :D

Great video! I like to use mini color-coded sticky tabs with a color for character, one for plot, one for setting, and one for writing :) I LOVE that you take notes on your reactions!

Aghhhh finally I've been waiting for this!

To keep track of parts I like or dislike, I tab my books. It doesn't distract me at all and I colour code my tabs so it's organized and I know what part I like just by looking at the yellow tab or things that annoyed/angered me just by looking at the orange tabs. This helps a lot in knowing whether I loved the book or found many flaws in it with a just with a quick overlook. Sometimes I write small points on pieces on paper and keep it in the book. This is what works for me personally. I find it really cool that you write down your opinions so whatever small points you've jotted down give an insight to how exactly you felt reading that part and your reaction to plot twists, or whatever you write in your notebook

Thank you for doing this! I normally (sacrilegiously) write in the book if it is mine. But I only do quotes, and and questions. foreshadowing and predictions I will normally note down with elements I like and dislike but I still struggle to review it. I always feel if I can't explain my feelings and thoughts to a reader who hasn't read it. But this is helpful writing down plot. Great Video! I appreciate as a big channel doing videos that will not cater to all your audience and isn't as entertaining!

I enjoy taking notes while reading. I do it a little different. I leave tabs throughout my books on pages where I liked a quote or a favorite part. And this might make some of y'all cringe but I write in my books. That's where I keep my notes. And I highlight quotes and dialogue. It makes the book seem more personal to me and also comes in handy when doing reviews!

I have this book mark that I have used for like 4 books now, that I wrote page numbers on. The pages are usually like cute things or things that will be handy in the plot. 😀❤️

I use sticky note flags to mark quotes/sentences that I really like and moments that I think are funny, cute, or somehow important. So my books look all plain in the bookshelf but when you pull one out there's lots of flags sticking out ^_^ I also would love to write on my books (I think it looks super cool when people do that) but I can't bring myself to do it (I like clean books too much and I'm scared of "messing them up" with ugly writing or highlighting the wrong thing).

I definitely take notes while reading! I tend to write down plot points/things that happen while I'm reading as well as quotes/page numbers that I want to refer back to when writing my review. It helps so much, especially if my review comes out well after I've finished the book.

My favourite way of taking notes is the good old post-it note method. I keep a stack by me and then whack them in with notes where relevant. I sometimes use different colours for different characters, themes, plot points etc. Used to do it in university and honestly it was the best way for me to keep things together (and then I can find relevant quotes super-easily too). I don't take them for every book, but ones for book club or ones that I'm going to blog about for sure!

I never take notes while reading, but after every reading session I write everything down I still Remember. I see it like 'if I think it remembering worthy, it should be written down'

Sometimes I have a form I made on my Google drive that has columns for different parts of the book I'm reading and will turn off the WiFi so I can focus on reading. Also it's really nice to take notes with something like a Kindle when reading an ebook because they added a note taking feature!

last year when i read the blood of olympus, i had an idea to buy a bunch if tiny sticky notes with diff. colors and assign them to an emotion i feel (yellow-happy, green- sad, pink-heart-fluttering, orange-funny) while reading. then i would just write a comment on a sticky note w/ the emotion it goes with and stick it on the edges of the page where it applies. it was fun and the book looked cute because there were A LOT of colorful sticky notes, but it isnt for everyone. it was also fun re reading my small side comments lmao

This is very helpful. I've been seriously thinking about taking notes for my physical books while reading only because I feel like I forget what I just read. I've actually started highlighting and leaving comments while reading my ebooks. It was fun and I felt like I was more engaged in the text, but I'm not ready to deface my physical books so I'll have to use printer paper because that's the only paper I have atm lol.

Tip for those doing this with kindle - if you click the bookmark thing at the top of the page then once you've finished reading for the day/ for a while then you can look through them by clicking the notes thing at the top of the page and write notes from them that way. Also means you don't have to stop reading every five minutes

I always read in bed & will take pics of quotes but sometimes i dont want to stop so i started writing down pages numbers and like a key word on my tissue box thats always right next to my face lol then i go back & take pics of them later! 🤣 I still have to stop reading momentarily but its much faster then using my phone in the moment!

I loved this video! I'm always curious about how other people take notes when they're reading! I typically only take notes when I'm reading something I want to do a blog post on, and, even then, they're never super in depth. They're also always on my phone 😂

I'll take notes on a book if it's a fantasy series, because I don't want to forget everything if I take a break from the series. Usually, between transitioning from reading to some other activity, I'll just jot down what happened in the book on the Notes app.

Goodreads is really good when you have a specific page you want to write notes on. The update feature is my favorite!

You can even get journals for 25 c at some places. Great! I am currently annotating something for school and we didn't have to write in the margins but it was easiest at the time so. But I borrow a lot of books from the library and that is where the notebook would come in handy. But normally I don't take notes at all. It distractes me so much! My thinking distracts me so if I have to think and read it doesn't go well. So books that completely entrap me then that's good for me. The ones that don't I typically put down because it takes me such a long time to read. Anyone else?

I’ve only been taking notes on books for a few days, and I’ve realized that you’re not just reading the book while taking notes, you’re absorbing it. Instead of just observing what information or story is on a page, taking notes on chapters and sections activates comprehension. Especially if you’re reading a book on quantum physics, you might want to have your notes.

I used to take notes (names of characters, settings, certain things like tarot cards mentioned, did I LOL?, did I cry?) but I stopped because I JUST WANT TO READ! So your con is one I totally understand. But for some books, I will still try to take notes. Books like the Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton, in which I am currently reading book 25. For this series, I take EXTENSIVE notes, up to and including a chapter-by-chapter play-by-play. But I am not taking any notes during this first read-through of #25. I'll take notes when I do my reread. 😉

I like to use post stick. Every color means something: one for quotes, one for food (I like to recreate it), important moments, etc. Sometimes I take notes in a notebook.

Wtched it! I have been reviewing for years and I take ZERO notes. I remember one time when I took notes while watching an episode of Riverdale. It was so annoying! I love writing but not while I'm doing other stuff. Leave that for the classroom. So my tip will be for non note takers like me. Remember how you felt about the book or show, remember key scenes and the over all plot. Mix that together with your own thoughts, edit, look over and then post. When I'm taking notes on a library book, I like to write my reactions on sticky notes and leave them in that page of the book as I read. Then before I return it, I take out the sticky notes and save them. I don't know why I find it easier to carry sticky notes around than a whole notebook. Or I'll do a vlog-style review, where I literally film every reaction, and then that becomes my review. This is honestly my favorite way, because all the clips end up being the video--and I just have to splice it all together :)

I find ebooks as the best at note taking. you can literally write IN the book without really writing in it. (I can never deface real books like that)
