Interested in photographing splashing water? In this episode, we'll see how to take splash photography and capture the image every time. As demonstrated by Peter McKinnon, capturing high-speed events can be achieved by repeatedly doing the action and using your camera's burst mode. This doesn't take much equipment but does take quite a bit of time. Today, Harley shows how a little bit of inexpensive equipment can enable getting the splash every time, allowing you to fine tune the image to get it perfect.

Great video Harley. The fact that it is repeatable makes it a really straightforward system.

Thanks George! Yes, the repeatability is really great when trying to dial in the look you want.

Yeah, it was more than I expected. Of course, that's always the case. :-) Saw Peter McKinnon's video on Friday and woke up Saturday with the idea to do a "sort of" response. Scripted it Sat morning and shot it in the afternoon. Took about 6 hours to edit. All told, probably about 14 hours. So far, doing better than I'd hoped. We'll see how it does long term.

This was very helpful. This is something that I want to try soon. The technology is getting better for this stuff.

So glad you found it helpful! Yes, the technology is getting more accessible. The HiViz kits have certainly improved since I got mine. They're also a bit more expensive. I've been thinking about getting one of the newer kits to see how it goes together. I've also been thinking about a less expensive, more DIY version. So many ideas... so little time... :-)

thank you again for this! instead of buying a expensive kit you could make one with an 2$ arduino pro mini.

Thanks Francois! Haha, have you been reading my "to do" list? :-D Yes, an Arduino based system would certainly be less expensive but probably not as accessible to the average person without some detailed instructions. It's been on my list for awhile. Too many ideas, not enough time. :-/
