Watched every minute! I’m extremely impressed with your meticulous workmanship. Your wife is a lucky lady! Has she done videos since her new lighting was installed? This is exactly what I want for my small sewing room. 👍

Thanks! Yes, she has shot some videos, but I don't know if she's uploaded them yet. It's so much brighter and nicer to work in there now. Highly recommended, even if you're not shooting video. :-)

Been waiting for this video Harley! Nice fittings there. Over here, the inspectors would have a fit and condemn the whole lot because they don't allow for outlets on lighting circuits. Still, if you don't tell them, they can't complain. Seeing as you now have the dmx panel installed a few decent par cans would go on that and turn it into a party room as well! Be interested to know where the dmx dimmers came from, might have to invest in some myself.

Thanks! Yeah, over here, inspections only happen during construction so I don't need to worry about that. As long as it's safe, I don't worry too much about legal. ;-) If we sell, I'll probably have to swap it back over to a normal switch but it's all done in that one junction box, so it's pretty easily done. And, yes, I expect as my wife gets more into video, there will be additions to the system. I'm also thinking about doing something similar in the workshop. I've got a cheap par light to experiment with. (It came in handy when doing some debugging on this system.) Might get some RGB LED strips too. I put affiliate links to the components I used. Not sure if they're available in the UK though. Cheers mate!

I'm going to lie to myself and pretend you made this video for me, ok? Let me feel special 😂. Jokes aside, great pointers , as usual

Haha, of course! Just for you! Seriously though, it is a great improvement to have a decent amount of daylight balanced light when working on projects. I converted my workshop from fluorescent lights to LEDs a while ago and it's sooooo much nicer.

Do you have another idea.. that will give the same result? I live in a rental.
@HouseOfHacks

With a rental and not wanting to make holes, you have to either find or make some sort of support structure to attach your lights to. The first idea that comes to mind is to use trusses designed for stage lighting. (Search for "stage trusses" or "stage rigging".) Basically, you'd build a free standing frame inside the room to attach lighting too. The down side to this is it's quite pricey. I thought about doing this in my wife's sewing room but the cost was more than I wanted to spend. I thought about trying to using some black or copper pipe to do something similar on a DIY basis, but that seemed like more work than it was worth (at least in my case). Another alternative might be to attach some plywood to the ceiling and then attach the lights to that. You'd still have to make some holes, but there would be far fewer of them. And the holes would be smaller since you could put screws directly into studs without having to use drywall anchors, which tend to make much larger holes. When you move, you'd just remove the screws holding the plywood and everything would drop down. Hope that helps.

I am looking for that exact lighting fixture and all though I have spent hours looking for it I have come up empty handed. What is the lighting fixture you used?

We got it at Lowe's: www.lowes.com/pd/Good-Earth-Lighting-Carlyle-48-in-Brushed-Nickel-Transitional-Flush-Mount-Light-ENERGY-STAR/1000116865 Hope that helps!

Thank you it does help and they have them at the Lowe’s nearby. Do you think that if my room was painted in a medium tone color that these lights would compensated for the darker color?

overkill

Haha, I can definitely do overkill. However, whether something is overkill or not depends on the requirements. For this application, it's barely sufficient
