In this video I take you behind the scenes on a recent shoot were I created 3 different portrait photographs on the main staircase at the stunning Chicheley Hall near Milton Keynes in the UK.
As you will see, all the photographs in this video were taken on my Sony A9II with my Sony 35mm f1.8, Sony 85mm f1.8, Sony 16-35mm f2.8 GM and the Sigma 135mm f1.8 lens.
In this video I show you 3 separate portrait setups and poses, using combination of natural light and off camera flash.
For some reason, I always find that couples love staircases - I have no idea why but I hope this video inspires you the next time you have a couple asking "can we please have a shot on the stairs" Haha
A huge thank you to the whole team behind this shoot, especially to Horatiu Blajan for organising the whole day and also for filming much of this video - thank you so much mate!
It was the first time I had worked with the model, Georgia, and she was brilliant. If you are ever looking to organise a shoot, I couldn't recommend her enough.
Shoot organiser: @horatioweddingphotography
Model: @georgiac_pa
Venue: @chicheley_hall
Make-up Artist: @cosmina_makeupartist
Hair Stylist: @tinabbeauty
As always, if you have any questions about anything which I do in this video, please do not hesitate to ask!

You are an absolute monster, sir. I will continue to try and re-create the looks you are achieving here, and probably continue to fall short. Fantastic work!

I was there last year shooting a garden party, it’s a great venue, I knew the stairs would be great and was thinking of your videos when I was looking at the various lights. Not sure I could be able to get the ceiling painting in. Another great video, thanks Neil.

Neil , you are inspirational , since watching your videos only a few weeks ago I have done a wedding shoot and making inroads to starting my own RU-vid channel , your delivery of flash education was the only method that resonated with me in a way I could actually understand. I hope one day to get good enough to actually meet you and you never know , we could work together :) you’re a nice man and that comes across so well on screen , thanks for putting the content out there that is helpful 🎉

Another excellent video, thank you. Just one question: how do you know what power setting to use for the off cam flash? Is it a rough gut feel from experience?
