Taking the train from Venice to Rome was really simple. We booked in advance about 3-4 weeks out from our trip, but there were ticket machines in the train station to purchase in person as well.
We had assigned seats and there was a snack car on board as well.
The train made stops along the way, but we main sure to book a train that didn't require us to transfer. It took about 4 hours to get from Venice to Rome.
