By the way, I started to watch your videos last September when we began to plan our trip, I was subscribed and then RU-vid unsubscribed me, I'm so glad I could find your channel again! You two seem very authentic, you don't try as hard as the other "Italian experts", you are a pleasure to watch, like listening to friends, mil grazie!
Again, another informational video. When we are in Italy, we travel a lot so for us, a rail pass is the most cost effective plan. We buy 8 day passes and just pay 10 euros for the seat. Also, I love the pictures behind you. Beautiful. Ciao
Hey guys,is it difficult changing trains when you go from Rome to Bologna change for the train to Ravenna..we only have 13 minutes to do so. Any tips on that one. Thanks xx
@@terriwarren4159 it all depends on which platform you arrive and which platform the Ravenna trains departs. But usually regionali trains run very frequently so you can always catch the next one
Thrilled to have come across your channel🎉 I am planning my 2nd trip to Italy next Autumn. First time was with a tour group, this time I am planning to travel solo. Any advice, based on your experience, if this is a wise decision would be appreciated!
Thank you for a great video, it was just what I was looking for. We are travelling in Italy for about 7 days mid-January 2023. We will be coming from Switzerland and was wondering if you had any tips for this time of year. I'm also not sure what is the best train to get from Lucerne, Switzerland to Florence. The high-speed train seems to be the best option, but I mostly see trips for the express trains from Zurich. Any advice for me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Thank you for your comment, January is a good month to visit because the city is not too busy. I am not sure if you can take a fast train from Lucerne, maybe to Milan and then change for Florence
We bought our TrainItalia tickets online from Rome to Florence, but I am still puzzled on how to use the digital downloaded tickets, do we scan them in the ticket scanner in the stazione? Also, we have tickets from Orvieto to Rome and on to Fiumicino. Do we only have to scan our tickets before we get on the Orvieto train or do we do it for each train we board? Mil grazie signori!
From Rome to Florence you just need to show your PNR in the email you have received. For the others just show the bar code in the email when you are on the train
@@TravelAddictsLife we are going to Italy in march too and we are planning to make a daily tour from Rome to Florence so if we buy the tickets online to who we show our PRN code? My second question is I found another online site (omnio) and the tickets for high speed train are cheaper than trenitalia offical site. Do you have sone info on that site is that normal? Thank you in advance!
Hello Lina, you will show the PNR on the train when the train manager asks. We haven’t tried OMNIO yet. Please let us know how is your experience with them
Hello your chanel is very helpful, thank you so much. My husband and I are traveling next month to Italy. We will be taking the train a lot. We’re also bringing 2 big luggages the check in size. My question is, is it safe to leave the luggages by the cabinet where there’s multiple other luggages? Also will it fit if we put it in between the seats that you showed because your video shows like it was a small carry on luggage.
Hello! I'd just like to ask if I buy tickets in the train station, would it be significantly more expensive? Want to be more flexible when it comes to the train tickets, so I wanted to know if buying from the station a few days before would be okay. Thank you!
It depends on the type of train. If you are going to buy a high speed train the closer to departure the more expensive becomes either at the station or on line. Regular trains are the same price all the time so it doesn’t matter
In2023 September me and my family (3adult) want to visit rome Rome 3 days -- Naples 2d--- amalfi1d--- Florence -- Pisa--- Siena--- chinqtere -- Lake como --- Milano--- Venice --- back to India😊😊
Hello, can you help me how do i buy a train ticket staying near the Vatican to Florence. Do i have to go back to the Roma Termini or is there a train station at the Vatican i can leave from. Please advise. Thank you.
Hey guys, could you answer me a question we are going to Florence and then we want to hook up to the cruise ship in Ravena what is the best way to get there? It would probably be September.
From Florence you will need to take the train to Bologna where you change there for Ravenna. The whole trip should be between two and three hours depending on how much time you need to connect in Bologna
trying to book from roma termini to florence - you said in your video that the train will stop at santa maria novela train station whick i don't see it in the Trenitalia website, instead Firenze Santa Maria Novell - is this correct? thanks
If your arriving on a morning flight like at 8 am how long would you allow to get through custom then get from airport to train station? Not sure what time to purchase ticket for. Thank you!
To be sure you should book the train for 11:30 if you land at 8. Also check for a train fare that is changeable so you can change it if you are early pr late.
Hi we are flying to Rome in March: For high speed trains booked in advance, if the flight gets delayed or there is a long line at customs, can you change the time?
I had a similar question...so if you purchase a transferrable ticket then a flight delay won't impact your ticket...you can just transfer the high speed train ride to a later time of the day, correct?
Yes you can but only up to one hour after the train departure. Also there might be a fare difference to pay. www.trenitalia.com/en/html/trenitalia/Info_Tariffe_en_LeFrecce.html#BASE
Thanks for the information and video. They are truly appreciated. I am hesitant to book in advance because of the possibility of a flight delay or change so we will likely attempt to purchase at the station. Looking to rent a car once closer to Lucca...in your opinion is it easier to drive out of Florence or Pisa...also, curious about the rental car process.
Thank you 🙏 it is pretty much the same thing if you have a phone with google maps it is not a big deal. Renting a car in Italy is pretty straight forward. You can watch our video about driving in Italy
whoa! it's too long i'm away from florence, couldn't even recognize the train station :P jokes apart: when i'm able to take a train i usually prefer a regular regional train mainly because i really enjoy the travel per se
Might want to point out to be very careful on entering the departure time for the economy tickets on Italo because once you purchase them it is nearly impossible to make changes and huge fees are incurred! I needed Noon and booked 6am... now I am stuck!
@@TravelAddictsLife use Fiumicino Aeroporto as the starting point Fiumicino Aeroporto departing at 1:53pm arriving in Santa Maria Novella at 4:11pm (no train transfers)
90 days in advance purchase is ridiculous. You don't know if you will be ALIVE IN 90 DAYS! A week to 10 days at most is more realistic. Many years ago a group of us were going skiing in the north so we bought train tickets and a Rapido supplement for the faster train going north Rome-Milan and Rapido north only. On New Years day the Rapido didn't come and no information as to when it would, so we took the old and slow train that took 8 hours and many stops. On the return we presented the return tickets and the unused Rapido supplement. Conductor refused to accept it and we refused to buy a south bound rapido at much higher cost. Successive levels ofsupervisors arrived but we stood ourground. They went away infrustration. The conductor refused to accept my suggestion that we goto the Rome ticket office and exchange the supplementary tickets as he was leaving the train in Florence, so no settlement could be made and that is how it ended with no further action taken.
@@TravelAddictsLife Yes thanks I already have my seats numbers. But do I have to go to a machine to validate my train tickets? I saw some videos of people doing that before boarding the trains.
❤you two so easy to understand.!! My friends will be traveling from Rome to Florence BUT I need to meet my group from Zurich Switzerland to Rome ,specifically on October 10 after 1pm. Do you suggest air or train ?
Your video was very helpful. On our extended cruise vacation in September, we’re thinking of a day trip to Florence from Rome by train. You provided us many useable tips. Thank you.
Hello! We’re flying from Paris to Rome in a few weeks. Once we land in FCO we’re taking a train to Florence. And, I’m trying to book our train tickets. Our plane lands at 9:15, and I’m trying to figure out if 10:38 is enough time to get to the train terminal. Or, if we should opt for the 11:30 option.
Your video topics is so helpful which made me subscribed!! I am going to Rome in September and is it a must to buy the high speed train to Florence 90 days in advance ?? My plan is is to buy the train ticket 5 days advance only.
Thank you 🙏 You can buy the anytime you like, if you want to get the best deal you have to buy it as soon as possible, if you are fine by paying a little more you can buy it whenever you want.
@@TravelAddictsLife Thanks so much for your advice, so helpful 🙏 . Advance train purchase I guess is more beneficial, thank you and I will keep watching your channel 😇
