Learn How To Tape & Spackle Drywall For Beginners. This video shows you how to apply the tape and first coat of spackle.
1. Apply mud to the seem with your 6-inch knife. Use the knife to pull excess off the wall and make the mud smooth.
2. Apply tape to your mud along the seem. Use your knife to cut it to length. Use paper tape instead of mesh because it resists cracking.
3. Press the paper into the mud with your knife. Use light pressure at first followed by medium to hard pressure. Pull out as much excess mud as you can.
4. Apply a thin layer of mud on top of the tape. Swipe your knife across the tape until the mud is smooth.
