Your videos have been really helping me learn. Im an apprentice in a very well known barber shop in dublin, im seven months into my apprenticeship do and have no mentor, i just watch the barbers cut and do the general duties that needs doing, ive seen all these techniques uve been showing on a daily bases, the barbers in the shop are very skilled, but speak little English and are too busy to teach, which i understand, so its kinda all up to me to watch, learn and practice. Anyway tonite just ive watched this video 3times and ill do that every night until i can predict your every move, then ill change over to another one off your videos and do the same, so its your videos that will take will a step further so please keep making more.. Thanks so much mate..

Eric, I am so sorry you have to put up with some of these nonsense responses. Just want to tell you my husband's haircuts have improved so much because of your detailed videos. i don't have to use my guards anymore. I am developing my "eye" much more instead. I am not trained so I rely ever so much on great videos like yours. I hope you so show us more videos and with different head shapes like round with older men who have bald spots and how one gets the lengths correct. Thank you.

i dont believe any barber i ever went to even put half the amount of energy into my whole haircut than you put into the goddamn neck. hopefully someday i find a reasonably priced barber that takes his job seriously.

Nice. I was confused about the neck line that has those curves. Now I know they must remain because they are part of neckline

Were you cutting his hair or tatooing his neck?? ...thats a serious skin rash you cause with your method.

The free hand technique is not easy to do.It takes much practice and skill to do a perfect neck taper.(or today they call it a different term maybe like a fade) It is easy to make a hole in the taper so much skill is needed especially if your busy with customers waiting. It seems the left taper is a little higher but not too bad. All in all a nice job. Anthony Joseph Lucchese (master barber of 5 years and left cutting hair due to leg problems)

Anthony Lucchese thanks for your comments, yes it is extremely difficult to do this properly, when you really think about the neckline, all I’m doing here is exposing the natural neckline shape and contours, if you change this you will create an un-natural shape that won’t grow out as good as it would if it’s left to the natural shape. Just my thoughts on this, again thanks for you time and comments.

I don’t get this effect. Easier would have been to square it off at the bottom with the clippers? 🤷🏼‍♂️

I watched to see if there was a way to cut the hair nice and neat using edgers without raking it up or down the client's neck, but I see your model is turning painfully red with a razor burn and yet you are still going back over the areas rather roughly. If this was a kid or an older person, they would be cut and or bleeding.

Tosha McCarty hi there. Knowing the models skin as I do due to him being a client for many years his skin is hyper sensitive generally, as soon as you even start combing it when checking the hairline as you start the consultation it turns red. Within minutes of finishing the haircut it's all back to normal. When doing this technique of flicking the clipper over the neckline to taper it, it is done with a very light touch, not a heavy one where the clipper is pushed hard against the skin Causing a skin irritation. It's all about how light and free you hold the clipper. As you will see from the video I hold it very lightly. Hope this answers your concerns.
