Good job. I would suggest using diethyl ether to avoid the bleaching from the alcohol at 2:20. It's illegal to buy outright, but it's actually the main ingredient in starter fluid, just drain the can out. It has a greater effect and you won't need to dilute it because it doesn't bleach as harshly.
@@beginnerstaxidermyguide8459 Yeah no problem. Just make sure to use it *as soon as possible* in order to stop the formation of peroxides that could react with the ether and cause it to explode. Also if you have sodium chunks or potassium laying around then throw that in to stop the oxidation from taking place. It's fine for just leaving out for a couple days, but long-term storage could cause it to blow up just by touching it. Keeping it in the metal can is fine tho since you're not directly exposing it to air until it leaves the nozzle. Cheers!
You dont need the fish at all, unless you are giving it to the taxidermist, then just wrap it in wet but not soggy papertowel then put it in 2 ziplocks in the freezer, usually stays good for several months for certain fish.
I have found this to happen too. I would say do your best not to overscrape the fish and get the meat off without going over and over on the same spot. One thing I also do is flesh the fish on a wet rag or washcloth and not on a hard surface. I think the hard surface can cause some scales to fall of easier.
Beginners Taxidermy Guide , every fish I’ve worked with creates slot more slime when their unthawed from the freezer and they just get that really strong fish smell and after mounting about 20 it just makes me gag
