He is very good . That been said , this title should not "how to teach" ; the kid is clearly been coached and raised into the sport the right way by somebody else , this is a hitting session at the best I didn't see any teaching involved with all due respect.

Certainly. The whole time I was wondering what was done to get the kid to that level. More fluid strokes than any adults at the country clubs I once worked at

In his defense, it says part 1, so the teaching part might come later in the ”series”.

The kid is good, and he's got a solid technique at his age (6 years). This video is just the warmup of the upcoming lesson, where the coach assesses the student's skills, and creates a connection with him through fun rallies and friendly comments.

He is so cute and very talented. In Poland where i live, i couldn't even sign my kid up to a tennis club because he was less than 6-yr old. I finally found a place where he could play despite his age. He is now 6 but his level is nowhere near this guy's :)

For developmental purposes, would it be better to have 6 yrs old continue with orange/green ball instead of moving too quickly to adult regular ball?
@TOXRaizou
@TOXRaizou Год назад
When I was 7 we didn't have orange / green balls. We just started straight with the regulars ones. I think if the kids are getting injured early on, it's because of too much time spent into screens, or because they didn't get the proper handles of the rackets. And even with proper handle, it's entirely possible that kids this age, especially now, are fragiles because of point 1. Wayy too many kids aren't doing enough sports early on, which results in pretty bad legs form.
@mtns7036
@mtns7036 Год назад
Without holding them back or pushing forward too fast it's a judgement call . This kid who is technically sound already, would still have a problem if the ball was struck harder and as Patrick said he wouldn't want the kid to be hitting everything up high either. You can even see Patrick doing his best to keep it low after a while. Many parents will push for the yellow ball, they all think their kids are ready, the weight of a yellow ball can hinder technical improvement (though it seems this dude is extremely technical) do as you see fit but remember there is absolutely no rush.
@Arsenal1508

I honestly think kids should play on smaller courts based on their height. As they get older, gradually transitition to bigger courts. What's the point the net being taller than the kid.

Okay, not clear for me. Patrick played with this kid with normal ball or green ( pres less)? I think this age this question very important. I’m tennis coach in Switzerland and I think jormal ball for toooo early for this boy. Ok he is very good, but to early ( for wrist, arms and brain… yes brain!) under 9 or 10 no way!!
@goggleboy2464
@goggleboy2464 Год назад
Lol why? Who told you that? Why use a slower ball if you can handle a faster one
@berkozturk1618
@berkozturk1618 Год назад
I think if the kid plays good, it's better to use normal balls. Not new balls but used ones are good because they bounce less. What I don't like about red, orange and green ball is everytime when players transition to a new ball they have to adapt the speed and strength of the ball. And another problem I see is the contact point, when they hit the ball. If the racquet face is a little bit open with low pres balls, the ball will go inside the court but with normal balls it will go up.
@dr26rob
@dr26rob Год назад
@@goggleboy2464 lol why? First: not slower and faster. Important bounce less, bacuse this age very important preparing with footwork and arms and body. I’m not a professonal coach but I watched this video and I think the contact point to high! Second: this in the tournament thewy play green court ( 25%less balls and tennis court smaller ) if remain the nirmal ball bounce is not good! This video good for marketing and of course this boy very good. Also good if they use normal balls used one ( but almost same like green one 25% less )

He is great for his age, but using normal balls is kind of stupid. The Owaki brothers are perhaps the best example that you can still play quality tennis without risking injury to the wrist. He doesn't stand a chance anyway in U12 competitions, and he would be just as great if he uses green or even orange balls. Too bad that Mouratoglu is ok with this.
