This was helpful. I used the container and elastic experiment to teach my students about pitch. Thank you!

Hi, Sir. I appreciate your videos very much, they are extremely useful to teachers and students who want to perform lab activities but do not have enough resources to begin with. I see sir that you haven't uploaded a video since last year, which is a shame. Your videos deserve more views and comments. Again, thank you and Godspeed.

Hi Joanne This is Kate Gray replying - thank you for your comment. Brian had ideas to make many more videos but sadly he died in January 2014. You can go to www.scienceteachingalive.com to read more about Brian’s work AND to download pdf files with more info for each video. I'm delighted that you found the videos useful. Most of the videos were made while Brian was ill but he was keen to do as many as he could. We want these videos shared as widely as possible and to help teachers and students use these ideas in the classroom, so we are adding downloadable files for each video which will give more information to teachers on managing ‘active science learning’ in the classroom. There are currently downloads available for Acid-Base indicators, Electric Motor Effect, Electromagnetic Induction, Electrical Circuits. Sound and Pitch will be added shortly. We hope that with a good response to the videos, it will be possible to make more using ideas that Brian developed. Thanks again, and please tell your friends and colleagues!

when you stretch the rubber , what happened to pitch ? increase or decrease ??
@TheAdvocative
@TheAdvocative 8 лет назад
I'm not sure how it works with rubber, but in longer strings the pitch decreases due to it needing more energy to vibrate, therefore decreasing the frequency, which in turn decreases the pitch.
@addison6617

murat kar Well basically the pitch depends on the amplitude. The smaller the amplitude due to the stretching out of the rubber causes a decrease in pitch since the two are directly proportional.
