Oh dear, ZG will now fuss about the prong collar. 🙄 Thank you for reinforcing the training I already know but need to practice practice practice more often. (All the time) I’ll be interested in ZG again if he quits whining about other trainers and can show equal or better results.

My Cane Corso is halfway through proofing with distractions. She down/stays at the park even when dogs come up and sniff her, she ignores them - she's watching me. I can't get her to down/stay when someone comes to the door. This is going against her entire nature as a guard dog, it's the peak distraction for her, and we still have a lot of work to do to get there!!
@concreteartist777
@concreteartist777 25 дней назад
Try throwing a rug down (a small one like a bath mat) and teach her to go to it, maybe 6' from the door then keep backing it up. Once the dog is comfortable with the compromise you can keep modifying it to what you are comfortable with. Kinda goes along with the method of teaching a dog to bark on command so then you can tell it no when it barks when you do not want it to bark.
@maryshkamiceli8388
@maryshkamiceli8388 7 дней назад
@@concreteartist777 I did something similar with a Flat-coated retriever mix I rescued. The command was "go to your spot" and when I needed him to back off rushing the door, I'd say go to your spot and pointed to where I wanted him to stay. It worked for both of us. Boy I miss him. Lymphoma is cruel.

The Barbie dream car killed me 😂😂 totally unexpected You're right. The teaching down part is piece of cake, usually doesn't need longer than 1 or 2 days and that's where most people stop. I always increase the durstion and distraction gradually right away when they are still puppies and never let them stand up until they are mentally calm. That way they learn that down stay means peace and zero action, it also helps tons with impulse control.

DD Your dogs are so gorgeous, your dogs do have fun & are clearly treated with love. No amount of training could hide a mistreated animal ,especially dogs. In the world your dogs embody happiness, feeling safe, and confidence in themselves as well as with You leading them.💗🐶 Keep Up the Amazing Work You were Truly Meant For!. Ppl that hate project themselves onto others showing their true character, their own insecurities or both. Dont let their negativity cloud ur skies. FIRST and most IMPORTANT!!!.... I am a huge DD fan. He has skills in working with aggressive dogs that I don't have. BUT..... I have to disagree with something in this video. You should NEVER, EVER teach a dog a down from a sit position. WhY? you may ask... Because a down from a sit is a completely different motion than a down from a stand. So, why is that important? If a dog goes from a sit to a down, it is a forward motion. If a dog is taught properly to do a down from a stand it is a backward motion.... Again... why is this important you may ask. Here's why.... Let's say that your dog is chasing prey and about to run into traffic. If they have been taught to go to a down in a forward motion, it may end up with a forward crawl into a down extending the forward movement into a dangerous situation by several yards. If they have been taught a backward motion down, they will put on the brakes and stop immediately in a much safer manner. All of that to say.... I wish I knew 10% of what DD knows with modifying behavior and solving aggression. I greatly admire his skills.

I mean really it comes down to just work with the dogs. Most people want this but refuse to put the time in. You're doing brilliantly! My goal this summer is to completely desensitize my dog to the sound of the pool, splashing, and children screaming. Typically going to be around 1hr of working with her. We just did day 2 of it and she is already doing so much better! Day 1 of requesting: please show us a beginner's heel tutorial and loose leash walking tutorial in your methods starting from not understanding heel and loose leash walking at all! Also... THANK YOU for posting such in depth videos on how to communicate with the dogs. I love to see these kinds of videos. It really makes my day, builds my own confidence that I'm doing the right thing, and my dog is much safer for it.

My guy even learned the leash used for training and competition was different than the leash we used for walking. The retractable leash was used for being around areas where people might be but he had the freedom to be a dog and sniff and go ahead or even lag behind but when someone came into view then he was right with me. They know and they can learn those kinds of difference. Plus one thing I learned, there was a bond that develops with training with training your dog you can't get any other way. And it's very special. Most people think you have to spend hours and hours a day but the truth is it's only a few minutes and if you work with a puppy it's even less. I never worked more than at the most 20 minutes a day. But it was almost every day. We did a lot of obedience competition. He had a bunch of titles. Excellent, excellent dog. I learned you have to train the trainer (owner).

Hi Dog Daddy I love seeing your dogs running around having fun too. Beautifully trained and much loved. Our husky is getting better on leash, but I can let her off leash only in fenced areas, and even then only around big calm dogs. The bigger the better, she loves great danes and 99% of huskies she has met. She's not so beautifully trained (by me), but still much loved.

Thank you for all you do for dogs and people. My dog's weaknesses are eople...she loves everyone. Elk, deer, chickens and goats😬 I've been using a prong collar... She's a 60lbs, 7 month old husky X... Her attention span is that of a squirrel... She's doing better, but I am seriously thinking about some of the E-collars. Dogs get killed where I live by chasing elk. I never...never take her off the leash, ...we have mountain lions too, but my fear is her getting out of the fence and going after elk...

I have a female Akita/Husky and she is very reactive. I try for her to stay down but she jumps right back up. She wants to tease the boys and try to get them in trouble. Her mother and 2 brothers are not tempted. But the brother most like her spazz behavior, jumps up also. I will try using the prong collar on her. I use it for walking so she doesn't pull. She listens well with it on. Her mother can keep her down. She drops when MamaBear (Akita), makes a move towards her. Thank you! I will let you know if it works on "Miss Tuffy Gazelle"...aka..Tuffy❤

We can't afford any kind of professional training so I am hoping that your videos can help us from losing our sweet pup. My husband and I are both disabled, of very low income, and my disabilities are from mental health issues. Someone recommended getting a dog to be my ESA. Unfortunately, I was not educated in the process and made a poor choice in the kind of puppy I adopted. Angus is Siberian Husky, with Australian cattle dog, and he has to be trained in basic obedience, before he can be approved for advanced ESA, or service dog training. He is a good boy, so loving, faithful and loyal. But after a year and a half, he has learned very little from my attempts to train him. Now our landlord is frustrated and is telling us to get rid of him or be evicted. He sees him as a nuisance because he crys and barks the whole time he is left at home in his kennel. My issue with his training is that he is true to his breeds, defiant and willful. Angus is willfully disobedient, and suffers from separation anxiety. He has recently shown extremely violent and aggressive behavior around food and treats, even at one point attacking me, (without injury). He acts like he wants to comply and be obedient, but is struggling with his independent nature, often seen in both his breeds. We also discovered through a breeders DNA test, that he is inbred. We found out his parents are brother and sister, and it goes back even through his great grandparents. I understand this can also create a challenge with training. After this discovery we immediately followed through with having him neutered. I am sorry this is so long, please forgive me, I am desperate not only for my dog, but for myself as well. Angus is my world, and living with mental health issues I know what it's like to be different, and I know how it feels when people give up on you, I can't and won't do that to Angus. Even if my landlord puts us out on the street, I will keep my pup and follow through with my responsibility to him. Maybe you have some Husky tips regarding his refusal to follow my commands, and be consistently obedient. At this point if we faced an emergency situation, like a fire or car accident, Angus would likely not survive, because he won't even come to me when I call him now, (unless he feels like it). This can't be a hopeless situation, there has to be hope for Angus. I am praying that you, or any of your followers may have the answers I need. Thank you all so much for being patient with my long rant. 💔 🐾

Wondering if you train them all together as a group or individually or both being the owner of multiple dogs or pack.. my girls are well behaved for the most part but not like your dogs! This is important for everyones safety.. I live in the center of town and people are consistently going by, especially during tourist season.. my girls stay in the yard and people stop and complement me on how well they behave and guard the house! To bad you didnt host a show us what you have taught your dogs day, ya know people showing you how they've used your training tips for their own dogs.. I've definitely learned a few things even having some knowledge of training critters most of my life right down to rats, just love animals, but you have helped me fine tune a few things, thank you for that!
