Teaching a dog to walk to heel on a loose leash is a difficult thing to do when they are a strong breed of dog and want to pull on the leash all the time but knowing the right way to do it can achieve amazing results quickly and easily. This video shows the amazing transformation of a Doberman who is strong and pulls on the leash but with the right training, guidance and direction you will see a dog walking beautifully to heel in seconds.

As much as I wish I had sent my dog to Brandon for training before bringing him home ru-vid.comUgkx1_veP7CApJK_GWy_TczaMciuG64PqJeU I am so grateful for this down-to-earth, practical guide. His training techniques and tips really work. Thank you as well for dedicating your life's work to rescue dogs, and to rescuing those of us who want the very best for our 4-legged family members.

Great distinction... correction to correct unwanted behavior, reward to reinforce desired behavior. Your engagement drill is such a game changer. So far the dogs I have had the honor to foster, get such a kick out of the accomplishment and fun game we make of this. Thank you.

Gave my daughter your puppy course for Christmas and the change is incredible. The 'scatter puppy' has gone, and been replaced by a happy calm puppy (still abit inquisitive at time) that is no longer anxious about what is expected of him. I never would have thought that by training a dog you relieve the dog of stress.

I just want to say thank you this is a mirror of my 40kg boy that the answer was castration as he pulls to smell. Hes under a year and nervous so it wasnt right for us. Will your videos are absolute god sends. They are invaluable to a large strong breed dog owner. My Sasha was a female Rott who I was lucky to have for 9 years before she succumbed to Osteosarcoma she left and took my heart with her but I know I didnt train her properly. She was a puller and ijumper. It took me 8 months before I could bring myself to get another Rott. My breeder has a female for me she is 5 weeks old today. I will be getting her in 3-4 more weeks. I'm not going to make the same mistakes Ive been watching all your videos and I know I will be a confident and consistent dog owner this time around. I just love this breed they are the most affectionate and protective dogs I ever owned. Thank You for sharing your knowledge with me.

"Positive-only trainers refused to work with her" -- absolute bullcrap. There is nothing about this dog that would lead any dog trainer to refuse to work with her, positive or not. I have never, in over two decades working with dogs, met a trainer who follows any philosophy who would refuse to work with a dog just because she pulls on the leash. Either you're fibbing here, or more likely the owner left part of the story out when they told you this (like perhaps the owner was insisting she ONLY be trained using a prong collar, which of course a positive-based trainer isn't going to do -- but it's dishonest to make it seem as if they refused only because she pulls rather than because the owner was demanding they use a certain technique that the trainer does not employ or agree with).

Thank you Will, you saved my sanity, and probably my marriage. About six weeks ago, we adopted a 10 month old German shepherd cross bitch, from our Vets (I am a Brit Expat living in Colombia), we knew very little of her history, other than she and her sister had been abandoned, and she was with her sister when she was killed by a car. Nala is a loving dog, but on the lead she was a 'She Devil', I'm similar size to you, I was having trouble holding her, and she tried to attack anything that came near us, animal, pedestrian, vehicle. I was at my wits end, having had dogs man and boy, now 65yrs, so decided to research YT, and found your channel. As a result I tried a slip leash, which made no difference, then came upon this video, I was one of those who had always thought pinch collars were cruel, but on watching you decided to give it a go. The collar arrived last week, the first day, I let her wear it around the house to get used to it, she wasn't bothered, day two our first walk, a miracle in every sense of the word, jumped at two motorcycles, realised her mistake, and has improved daily. She now walks to heel, ignores all traffic, foot and vehicular, and is nothing short of an Angel, you are indeed the Messiah 😂 Nala thanks you, she now gets excited when the pinch collar comes out! ru-vid.com3IiCaDFruIE?feature=share

@@wendystewart5665 You can set up a loop of leash over one of their front legs right up near the top of their leg. Then when they pull, that leg lifts up and they are pulled off balance and immediately lose their pulling strength. It doesn't hurt them but being off balance is unpleasant so they stop doing it. I never did the treat thing but if you are and they ignore the treats, I'd let them get a bit hungrier before training (and no- not starving them- just make sure they are actually hungry so train them just before they were due to eat).

Heel is pretty natural behavior, so dogs get it quickly. Their main survival adaptation in the wild is following a lead dog while moving around, which is the same thing. Control the side by always giving treats with the same hand. The dog will go where the treats are and usually quickly get used to it.

I have a female Doberman and she is is 5 months and already 20kgs of muscle! She can loose lead walk and doesn’t really pull, but it’s not shaped into a nice heel yet as her pace is always adjusting. The annoying thing is when I praise her for being in a good heel position she then speeds up and gets about a foot or so in front. 😂 it’s still a loose lead but it now means she can cut in front of me if someone walks by etc. I think a lot of her problem is fear. I notice her hairs all stood up down her spine which makes her walk faster and start to pay less attention to basic commands she knows. I do walk confidently with her and don’t baby talk her when she is notably scared. I am scratching my head on the best approach to work through this behaviour as it can’t be fun for her if she is on high alert all the time 😢 Walks in the dark are the worst for this. Great vids. I have bought some of the Fenrir stuff too. Keep up the good work 👍🏻

Thanks for the video. My dog pulls like that. I tried your technique from another video, but I think I may need to use the prong collar now. Basically, no matter how many times it seems I tell my dog "Keava turn" and then I turn, she won't look at me. She doesn't seem to care about being tugged as long as she can smell or see whatever she wants. But there have been only a handful of cases where she knew to turn, so perhaps it's just going to be a long road till she understands to look at me.

How would you deal with that? *What I did* It was luckily near some railings so I tied the Good Dog's leads to the railings and I put Idiot on her back and at great personal risk put my thumbs each side of her cheeks and got the bone out, but is there a special way to do this?

I did this with my dog yesterday in the house for like 15 mins and he was behaving well till the time when we went out for a walk. As if he forgot everything I taught him. What to do in such situations
