That’s actually so weird to think about, how I would be far more comfortable talking about someone’s family problems than making small talk.

As an INFJ who gives less f***s every passing day, I don't think anyone can tell if I am flirting for the memes or because I am into them. Sometimes I will act a certain way just to see what happens for the "data".

Am I the only one who sometimes prepares topics to talk about before meeting said person?

I remember when my crush caught me staring, i felt like i absorbed all his energy,. I could somehow tell that he didn't like me staring, i felt his annoyance. He has a stoic face so it's difficult to read him but i felt THAT, i felt rejected and, it took me a while, but i got over him.

As a INFJ female I agree. * I see through people easily and the guys hitting on me (and getting turned down asap)are usually; the guys with issues looking for a free shrink/mommy 2.0 and the narsisstic guys mistaking me for a co-dependent. I cut those off at the knees nowadays cause I know where that toxicity is going. I don't need that in my life. * But I agree if I like you I get protective. Not just wanting to take care of you, protect you physically but mostly emotionally. I just wanna rap them in bubblerap really.😊 * I get playful. My inner child doesn't come out with everyone. But if I trust you and sense no judgement you get to see my wacky softer side. And I agree a shared sense of humor is important. I like guys that can make me laugh. But I don't like humor at the expense of someone or at my expense. That feels like a veiled attack. But someone who doesn't take themselves seriously and is relaxed and goofy is attractive.....and a good way to weed out the narcs cause they would never do that. They are too obsessed with their image to ever devalue themselves in public. 😜 * Also smartass flirty banter is hot too. If someone tries to talk me under the table....you are not gonna succeed but you trying to is very sexy. Its more of a test of will really. I like to see a little backbone in a man. I tend to be independent and don't NEED a partner but I LIKE to know someone is strong enough to have my back if need be and secure enough to let me do my thing. * And I agree we are first looking for an emotional spiritual connection. Shared views on life or shared values. Someone who understands us on a deeper level who we can be ourselves with. * Authenticity is very hot. Someone being their weird self even if that doesn't match the group is attractive. It takes guts to be yourself. And as an INFJ we are usually the weirdo as well so.

Stares. Little grin. Doesn't acknowledge your existence. Cold, yet wanting to get to know you. One day you'll see their true self. But that's level 100. Good luck.

INFJ will avoid eye contact if we don't like a person. If we do like someone, it's the complete opposite. Our eyes will be on you all the time. Also, if you're the first person we come to when we want to share news, then we definitely like you A LOT. If you can't or won't make us laugh, please exit the building.

Im 62 and I've been going on this INFJ journey, which has been fascinating because I really thought I just looked at things differently and more deeply than everyone else. I'm gay and my friends alway thought I was crazy because I actually have to "like" someone to have sex with them, no matter how "hot" they were. They were like, why? The only thing small talk is good for is to get more info on a person's true self. I give everyone a break because I know how hard life is, I hate phone calls because I don't get enough social clues over the phone...and so on. It's interesting how all these INFJ traits hit me right on the head.

I can't describe how moved I was to have someone describe how this works as an INFJ. Someone who understands, finally! The demisexuality, the wish for MORE quality time, the staring and looking and trying to peel off layers to get closer to their innermost self and connect on that level. Balancing this want for connection with not really wanting them to feel it because they might not feel the same and it would hurt so much. I have a major crush on a good friend and that is exactly what happens when we take a walk together.

The way you describe how INFJs decide to like someone is very similar to how INFPs decide to like someone. Reviewing all their aspects (faith, values, interests, compatibility) and needing an emotional connection before deciding to let the like happen. Also being highly selective!

What I've noticed about myself is that, unless you show me romantic interest and makes it at least slightly obvious, I won't really look at you romantically and won't open up my heart to fall in love with you... I wouldn't want to take that risk, and I can say for sure, that I've never taken that risk, ever...

We tend to overanalyze things and sometimes that can lead to misunderstandings. Anndddd yeahhh you truly don't know if an INFJ likes you. Sometimes even I feel and get informations about a person even when they are just walking or talking with someone else. And I always have a thought of I know someone better than they know themselves which is very complicated.

Maaan, i've never been more understood in my life! If im really intrested in someone, i study their moves, their habits, their whole SELVES. If i haven't EVER talked to this person, i will plan and try to find the best opportunity to talk to them casually so they won't have a clue i like them. When i liked this guy, i was planning FOR MONTHS how to approach him but the time never felt right. Once the time felt right, i casually asked him if he knew an english word i didn't know (because our native language is greek) during our english class and when NO ONE was around. The whole thing went pretty smooth but long story short it didn't work out, i didn't even have the chance to get to know him better because my autistic friend of mine told him i like him (i don't blame my friend though). I was too embarassed to even walk near him afterwards.

very insightful. your ability to self analyze is impressive. I definatly agree with most of what you said. I hesitate to make any bold statements though, as my situation is very unorthodox. I was a virgin until 35, rejected my every single girl i ever asked out if she she knew, or dumped by all of them when they found out. violently in some cases. Eventually just withdrawing completely. the options who did want me only wanted hookups, and i couldn’t do that. So i wasted away until i was a shell. And all the more crazy was that i’m above average attractive. it just attracted poor intentions

With maturity I learned to control my dark side but I lived experiences that made me afraid of myself. I have an aggressive predisposition and in a fit of anger that occurs in situations of real threat against the people I love or against someone close to me, I would transform into a cruel monster with animalistic behavior and even my voice would change. The last time it happened to me, the person didn't know whether to call the police or an exorcist. Seriously, no one benefits to see the dark side of an infj.

INFJ wants to ask about your past trauma and your parents right away, b/c they know it'll be relevant in the long run. Sounds fun, eh? (Not sure if it's a good sign, though. It seems to signal instant obsession. I cannot think that is rooted in healthy mental outlook. This is our brain on the chemical high of that oh-so-rare instant lust. The INFJ wants to be assured of a positive outcome, even when in the throes of the temporary insanity of romantic obsession!) Your insights are very interesting, thanks for sharing.
