I have a colostomy bag due to rectal cancer. I decided before I got mine that I was planning on keeping it for life. My first surgery was just a hole in my stomach. So then I had a revision two weeks later to bring out some of my stoma! I’m like you I told everyone that I was getting this. Cause my doctors explained it to me like it’s going to save my life!! Now I have only had it for a few weeks now. I asked for prayers from my family, friends and church family. I have learned a lot from your videos too. Now if I can just get my supplies mailed to me then everything will be great!!
I had this done ten years ago, and had problems but life is much better now with the bag, support from loved ones helps so much, wish you full recovery and happy life ahead
Hugely brave and I really appreciate you sharing your faith and life with an ostomy. Keep that positive spirit up and know you'll be helping new and established Ostomates alike! Jesus loves you my friend!
You rocked this Girl. I love how you have used your situation to Glorify God and encourage others. IMHO, you left out one of the best points... You never have to purchase toilet paper again!!! Whooop whooop! :D Second, if you ever decide a scenario dictates a "throat punch", please step away for a second, tell Joel what is about to happen so he can VIDEO. :) LOVE you girl. 1/2 Colon loving on No Colon
I don’t want to make it a secret but my my mom knew, aunt (godmother) knows just cause she’s a part of my medical appointments. One cousin vaguely knows another knows and saw. My ostomy because she w as visiting and found me obstructed and miserable and I showed her my bag and the window on the bag lifts to see the stoma. I’ve mentioned it vaguely on a chat site I frequent. I don’t really talk about it and certainly don’t really show my ostomy bag except on need to know basis.
Is your bag indefinite, or for a period of time? My son has one after crohns surgery but my impression was that it's temporary. He's constantly high output and we're going once per week for fluids.
I have a question...if noone minds? When I have a shower the outer edges of the flange goes gooey. This makes me worry about going swimming and the bag just coming off? Is the edges going soft usual?
How should I informed my husband there still a chance of blockages even after surgery as this was the main cause to get stoma? Any feedback will b honored. Thanks.
I would just explain that the intestines absorb and digest food. If you have part of your intestines removed, food won’t digest as easily so you have to be careful! 👍🏼
It’s nobody’s business I find I don’t have to explain myself I’m the one going through all the hardships who cares about people or what they care or what do you think really. If someone asks me about my operation my colon cancer my ostomy. If he’s not a very close friend I’m telling him to fuck off why not giving people my time or to explain to them they don’t deserve it. He didn’t suffer like me. So when they wanna know what happened to me they get a rude answer. Most people just want to hear your story, to talk about it to the peanut gallery. Especially if you’re a little bit of a popular person in your area people like to talk about your business. To make themselves feel important. I’m nice to the people who really care. Believe me it’s a small circle. Bottom line you owe it to nobody to explain your situation.
