I am so glad you made this video. I purchased a pieced leather pair of boots from Goodwill yesterday for $14.99. I could not figure out what exotic leather they were supposed to be at the time of purchase, but I felt it was real leather due to the variances in pattern between the two boots. I did not know it was lizard skin until I compared it to photos online. Your mention of the way the leather bends straight across with the scales raised just confirmed that I bought real lizard skin boots. So thank you for that!
It is nice to know the different ways to tell prints from the real thing. If you know you are buying prints and are happy with them go for it. I just don’t like it when people sell the boots know that they are not real and they take advantage of a buyer who is not educated on the differences. Great video Jeremiah. I would like to see you do a series on the different types of exotic skins to educate the people that are not aware of the differences. I knew which boots were prints.
Nothing wrong with a fake print as long as they are honest and say they are a print. My Cavender’s boots made by Old Gringo are a Hornback Caiman Print boot and they are beautiful. These do have beautiful raised patterns, I guess they somehow mold press the pattern but are around $200. They of course have a real Caiman Hornback for around $300+. My caiman Hornback prints are beautiful and most people think they are real at first glance , plus cowhide is probably easier to take care of than the real exotic. But they were a Christmas gift and I love them. Course . I like the look of the exotic even if they are a print. Many of us don’t have the $300+ for real Caiman or $5000 for real American Alligator. They did a good job with the print on mine but yes the pattern mold is too even of a pattern from the real thing but still are beautiful, but they were honest with saying it’s a cowhide leather caiman Hornback print.
Hey man! you have a dead pixel or a dot on your camera it seems, in the middle of the six boots in the background it, absolutely love your passion towards boots, only new to your channel but can't stop watching
@@JeremiahCraig Its so good. I was after a review of the Ariat Lockwood boots (as I bought a paid and wanted other peoples thoughts) and no one has done one. But stumbled on your channel and now I've ordered the Caiman boots. Hope they let them into Australia.
Looks like my Nocona lizard skin boots are the real thing, not that I doubted that. What's worrying if that there's a small tear on the skin of the left boot on the outer side. It's small but I'm concerned that it will get worse. Not sure how I can get that repaired in the UK (where I live).
Hey Jeremiah! Awesome video as always! Have you ever tried Denver Boots? I have a pair of lizard boots that I have beaten to death for years and they're still going strong!
Hey Jeremiah, I was wondering how the Stetsons fit compared to other brands? Example I’m a 9.5EE in Ariat, Tony lama, Justin, Allen’s but a 10EE in Lucchese, Anderson bean, and horse power top hand
I was the kid in back lol as soon as the camera panned across I saw them. They just look fake if that makes sense. It looks flat and not textured. I also noticed the shaft had a cheaper leather and overall look compared to the others. Great video
Was Larry Mahan a real lizard boot? It follows your video considerations. I wanted a good Lizard and bought them used on a whim. I have Lucchesse ostrich among others I have paid full price. I always like ropers, and have an original pair of Wildabeast Justins, lol. The Mahans are the most comfortable boots I own. I noticed the side pulls on them are not real leather. The rest is all down the line. I know Justin once used vinyl on the post where they connected on the sides. I Mahan boots were still made if these are real. I am like you, I don't buy fake materials. These are so comfortable and I appreciate your imput.
Thanks for the video! I recently purchased a pair of alligator print boots from Soto Boots which are hand made in Mexico and I am really impressed with the quality. I think a good quality print can be an alternative for anyone who cannot spend $1,000.00 + on a pair of real exotic boots but each to his own. If it makes you happy go for it, but do your research and know what your getting. Thanks again Jeremiah, I really enjoy your videos.
I'm watching this video for the first time and I figured I'd leave my guess here before I continue on to hear the real answer. My gut feeling is that the print boots are the brown pair that are second from the right. Something about the shine or the luster of the boots just seems off to me.... I guess time will tell if my gut feeling is correct!
Thank You. Thats an interesting video. I bought a few months ago the Justin 8303 lizard boot on ebay Germany. Another good point is do research on the internet it might be very helpful. I found that pair at some online shops and also on ebay USA. I did the same with my Justin Caiman and didn't found this pair but a similar beginning of the number and it was also a pieced Caiman. The only print caiman I found of Justin was a working boot with a rubbersole and it has looked different. Hope you will make a video about the Caiman differences. A few weeks ago i haven't bought a pair that was I guess a print even that he wrote he bought the unknown Mexican brand in Las Vegas on vacation and paid 250 bucks for the caiman. I prefer also the real things and not the fake things.
I agree on the internet research although when I researched the Justin in this video there were a couple of posts that said they were snake/lizard print when it is obvious to me that they are not. So it's hit and miss. I will definitely do this from the caiman perspective as well!
I have some Toni Lama's that I cannot tell if they are real Teju lizard or not. they DID crease diagonally but I think it was from sitting in the closet, not from wear. Does Toni Lama use only the real thing or do they use stamped cow leather?
Hey Joshua! Arturo has good suggestions here. I also like Scout. Here's the video I did about conditioning caiman and I also mention lizard in it! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DXUkF-8Sfmc.html
wow, i actually guessed it. I am finally that one kid in class that always knows the answer. I have one caiman print boots but they look really good for a print.
@@JeremiahCraig alright will do, i hope it can help someone who is on the fence about buying a pair ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wl2rd7HIf0U.html
Many boots have large calf options. Cobblers can stretch the opening if you need. I'm also planning a DIY at home video on stretching them yourself shortly in the future
I live in Canada. I would like to know the best Caiman print boot i can buy. You cannot ship any exotic skin boots into Canada due to the Endangered Species Act they will keep at border. So a recommendation of good print boots would be appreciated
Never heard of print cowboy boots before my entire life until I came upon your video when you say print to me because I’m a grab designer that’s what I meant and you print on canvas or whatever that I know to show this sucks. Jeremiah asked that you talking about printed I mean fake leather not on any cowhide and printed on top of that and the vinyl acrylic
