I echo that comment. I had a problem with a musical instrument, there was no evidence by looking at the capacitor. I.e leaks or buldging so I used your method and found the bad cap . I have now replaced that capacitor and I'm up and running.. saved me a few dollars getting someone to repair and not bad for a lady 😁Thanks
I was hoping you would also test very small capacitors, including electrolytic. And, explain if they must be removed from circuits to test them. Am new at this, and now have to keep looking.
Will still have the voltage at the pressure switch even if the capacitor is not good, I get 245 at the switch and my brother already changed the pump and cable down the casing and the pump still don’t start. Now that I learn how to check the capacitor I will do that next but thought I asked .
Hmm..i dont have the fancy testers, just want to test a capacitor on a dirtbike, so it would be good to see a video on the ohm's resistance test.. great video though, thanx?!!
so for the larger capacitor, do you just go by that initial 300uf that it reads? why does it climb to 500, and what does it mean when it goes so far above the rating?
We tried testing that capacitor with 3 different meters, and two of them did that. The one showed a steady readout was a $300 fluke meter, I think it the capacitance reading has a lot to do with the quality of your meter.
Sir may I ask, if I have a motor starting capacitor for "Dough Mixer" of 80µF 10+20% 270V, and I have a reading of 85µF, shall I say that the capacitor is in excellent condition?
Can you tell me if this applies to smaller caps? I am having an issue with the Samsun 1000uf35v where they are all reading really low (high 8 to low 9) and this is causing issue. Can you let me know if the same test should work for low resistance caps like those?
Using the screw driver to discharge a high-voltage capacitor could be dangerous to yourself and the capacitor. Better to use a high ohm bleeder resistor if possible.
What happens if there is say a 120V charge on capacitor. Then it's tested with a voltmeter on the high volt setting. Can this actually cause a spark discharging it by testing it?
How could you possibly think that you are qualified to make this video? Do you have any idea how much energy that big capacitor might have stored in it? or the resistance of a path through your internal organs, and how much time it would take to transfer energy into your internal organs, to some easily computed percent of full charge, say 63.2%, thereby yielding the power applied to what was once your living body? By the time you learn to set up and solve the differential equation for the exponential function controlling the circuit, ya the one through your internal organs, then maybe you could share some of that knowledge with the public. Until then, maybe NOT.
