How to test a SSR easy, Solid-State-Relay 

SSR for AC power switch it uses TRIAC and opto-coupler to packaging a complete module, mainly to replace mechanical relay unless you want clicking sound and contact life span, usually, SSR is far more long service life than Relay.
A simple try, no AC power connected, only simple test to see low-voltage control side.
