Thanks for this. I just started doing soil tests last year. I was a little overwhelmed at first. I kept feeling like I had to fix it all RIGHT THAT SECOND. I've started paying more attention to the lawn in the last year or so. I always hated doing the lawn when I was younger. Maybe I'm getting older? I need to fix the lawn so I can yell at people to get off of it when I get even older! Ha!. Thanks again.
Hey Doc, I finally did the Clemson University soil test and I was surprised to find that what I thought was crappy Carolina clay soil, was act pretty decent! High in Phosphorus so I will go with the 16-0-8 this summer and see how it goes. Thanks for all your help with my Bermuda lawn.
I live in between 2 people that have IMMACULATE gorgeous green lawns (it's fescue) and I have my bermuda lawn that had been unkept a bit for years and I am trying to at least not be the eye sore of the community. So thank you for your vids!
Is there a soil pH that makes it hard for weeds to grow but there happens to be a variety of lawn grass that thrives in that rather extreme kind of soil pH?
hey Doc do you have a video on fresh dirt Bermuda grass seeding how to start any info I need , the builder did spread a seed and hay for the winter and said that the grass from the seed will die as soon as it gets warm , !HELP PLEASE!! I live in southeast Missouri
Thanks Doc. Just had my soul samples completed and I came back deficient in both nitrogen and phosphorus. They recommended putting down a 10-20-10 but I can’t find many options there....thoughts? In addition, my front and back yard pH came back 8.1 and 8.2 respectively. Not much talk about alkaline improvement but would you recommend any products there (aluminum sulfate or simply putting down sulfur)?
Does the company The Anderson’s have products for centipede grass? Also do you have any information on centipede lawns? Thank you like your Bermuda lawn care videos?
Hey Doc, Moses Here..lol.... I did a soil test on my Fescue lawn in MD in Dec. The PH is 6.4 but my Calcium is high (1497) and my Magnesium is also high (184) have no idea how to fix this... My Phosphorus is low (34) and my Potassium is also low (68) I learned from you to use PGF 10-10-10 in the spring for PK... I'm worried about the CAL MAG numbers ... What do I use ??? I'm ready for spring with Humichar and PGF balance and PGF Complete and Barricade for the year..... Cal saturation is 73% Mg saturation is 15%..... HELP!!!!
First time I did not agree with Doc, so I had to post! Hundreds of video's and I finally get to complain. :-) I have been testing my soil properly and systematically for three years (2x per year). My Phosphorus is pathetic, it is not rising, it is always severely restricted. Clemson wrote a note on my test telling me that I needed at least 40 pounds of triple phosphate. I put it down exactly as they specified. I'll see what happens this fall when I retest. As a technical guy, it doesn't make sense to me to go through all the trouble of testing, not to follow the prescription that they put their research facilities into delivering to me. So for once I am not in agreement with Doc. I'm doing what Clemson prescribed. Opinions?
I agree... that's what I said in the video. Don't overreact to SMALL imbalances but do adjustments on severe spikes. The problem is that too many will POUND DOWN phos and push their levels too high.
@@HowTowithDoc Gotcha Doc, thank you for responding. I want this Phos idiocy to go away. I keep dumping 4-1-2 type fert and it is having no affect. So this time I hit it darn hard. Want to see what happens in the fall.
