I made my own tool from a junk actuator. Cut the housing off. Tear it apart. Keep the magnet stuff on it so I don’t lose it. Put a good visible mark on it to count rotations. I also drilled a few 3/8” holes to help drain oil, from leaking seal. My old tranny had blown seal, fried the clutches. When I pulled it, I was shocked from the amount of oil, and clutch dust gunk.

Awesome vids , bro ! You are a master tech on these . I have a 2013 Focus titanium with the fork actuator issue as of a couple days ago , of which I'm going to get to with much better knowledge now in a couple days . Your vids are more than helpful .

Upon closer inspection the center screw can move nicely but the fork can still be NOT GOOD. I found tiny needle bearings and tiny ball bearings in the center screw component, BUT, there are ALSO tiny bearings in the four rollers - two of which are bigger than two smaller ones that slide the fork plate up and slide back. If there bearings become seized, this can cause the forks to not work right and even become stuck. And I honestly don't think these bearings can be cleaned and lubricated all that much; but perhaps if one drills out a couple holes in the bell housing beside the actuators, one can blindly spray inside to try and hit these 4 extra bearings, from time to time, alike spraying a bit via the actuator port to hopefully clean of an lube up the center screw a bit every now and then too. i just broke one of the fork motors apart and and used the spline out of that to make a spline tool.

You’ve mentioned in a few videos not to over rotate past 14.5 turns for the clutch forks. What will break if you over rotate it? How easy is it to do that? Thanks for these videos! I go to Greer LKQ also. You’re right. Focuses are picked over quickly!

I just opened my Ford focus 2014 transmission and found out that has the same issue, the forks got wet, and moldy, so I think I don't need to buy the forks

Don't use a drill to actuate the clutch fork. That is how I broke mine. I got greedy when I was lubricating and cleaning the top of the A fork.

Question i used the spline tool to turn the bolt clockwise by hand it felt like it was just spinning but did i damage anything??? Then i realized that you’re supposed to test it counter clockwise 😱 I haven’t found any videos of what happens if you turn it clockwise wise

Why would only my clutch A slip? The fork was sticking causing codes "clutch A stuck" did the wd 40 and brake cleaner it now works but slips 1,3,5. No code BTW. Touch point for A is 7mm according to forscan

This just happened to me. I was trying to fix the stuck fork A with the spline tool and accidentally made more than 14 turns! That was the only transmission problem the scanner was diagnosing. After i broke it, the screw just kept turning and turning without anything stopping it. The bolt got completely out. I put the screwdriver magnet in the hole were the actuator plugs and was able to pull out some little steel balls. I know for sure I broke the fork, my question is... do you think i could fix it by just replacing the fork A or could it be more damage?

Could you please let me know what's going on: I turn the bolt the actuator turns and it doesn't spring back. I can turn the bolt in either direction infinitly, it feels like the bolt is not moving the fork forward or back at all. Does this mean it is fully extended and disengaged? Is it stripped? Snapped? Hello i have a 2013 Ford focus that was diagnosed with a bad TCM, i was able to find a used working TCM, however after replacing the TCM, it started all gears shifting hard. Now trans mission shop is telling me it clutch is bad and needs dual clutch replacement , please advise Thanks

Another informative video! I have replaced my TCM twice on my son's 2014 Focus and replaced one of the actuators. Both actuators and forks spin and return freely. I did notice that the lower clock gear would stop in one direction, but turn continually clockwise. My latest situation is the car shutters in first gear really bad and also when you are traveling slowly I can hear the actuators/TCM cycling about a dozen times when the car is off and you open one of the front doors, . I have no DTCs, but it acts like the last TCM was not programmed, as described when I bought it. Unfortunately, I cannot get FORScan 2.4.x w/ good adapter to see my TCM. I'm sure this car needs a whole new clutch because I have also seen fluid drip from a bad inner seal. Any advice on these symptoms is greatly appreciated!

Hey are those 2015 ford focus TCM vin locked or do that have to be programmed to match the vin to work? Can I get one from a junk yard and just bolt it on and do adaptive relearn and it work?

What if I can only rotate the fork about 5 times before it wants to spin back? The transmission is still in the car and I took of the actuator out, used a Torx bit to spin it. Does this mean its a bad fork if it can't spin more than 6 times before wanting to spin back?

I have a 214 Ford focus titanium hatchback and a 212 Ford focus both transmissions are a nightmare.... Both cars undrivable... Ford wants 2500 plus every time you turn around to fix transmission... After 100000 .

When I rotate mine it wants to spin back after about 5 or 6 turns and if I go more than about 5 or 6 turns it will automatically spin back. I can't even get close to 14 rotations... does that mean its a bad fork?

Got a question for u sir, I bought a 2014 Ford focus and when I bought it you could tell it was wrecked in the front it had a code for actuator b replaced actuator b with a Ford actuator, so my problem is a Kum & go's in the morning I can wake up I'll have reverse and 6th gear within 10 mi I will lose sixth gear and reverse

my check engine light on my focus says clutch position circuit, clutch position b circuit, shift fork A position circuit, shift fork b circuit but it runs it’s just rough on shifts. do you think cleaning out the tranny will help this or do i have to do something different

Question… 2013 fiesta with p087a & p287a. Won’t go into reverse. Undo ground and reconnect. start car and reverse works. But once I do the trans reset sequence of putting it in neutral turning it off and on waiting 15 seconds and all that code regenerates and no reverse. Undo ground again and reverse works. Sanded down all 3 grounds, swapped actuators with known working ones, tested forks turning by hand with ease and springs back good. TCM?!? Or something else.
