Very useful I will do this when I get home because my speedometer isn’t working but the Rpms are working so I’m not sure if something inside the speed sensor isn’t communicating with the computer and needs to be replaced or if it is my dashboard that needs to be replaced. I’ll comment again to keep u posted
Hey I have a 2007 hyundai Elantra and it is reading a code P0717 - Input Speed Sensor No Circuit Signal so I had put a new input speed sensor On and it came back with same code. So then I had the connector tested and found that the middle pin in the connector had no voltage but the 2 outside pins read fine. My question is do I cut the plug wire and replace with a new wiring plug to match the yellow, brown and red wiring in installing a new connector plug To clamp to input speed sensor?? Will that fix the problem with code P0717?
If cars are DC why is this even remotely measured in AC? just out of pure curiosity,i know the Bap sensors in some cars are measured in Hertzs etc but AC is kinda rare, first time Ive heard that, whats wrong with DC volts? thank you for your time.
Most things that rotate produce an AC (waveform) signal. Because the sensor itself doesn't need power to operate, there's rarely DC involved there. Alternator is AC too, but is rectified to DC to charge 12v system (@13.5-14.5v).
