I tried testing with the fan switch resting on the bottom of a shallow dish in boiling water. the switch wouldn't close. I grabbed a wire hanger and suspended it like you did. The switch closed as it should. Great tip! Thanks.
Mr max ; sure was a helpful video. wish I had found it couple weeks back. The answer i was looking for was demonstrated in the shot. My bike has two of those with one working off the other........Thanks.
Good video. I just tested mine by turning the bike on and shorting the thermostat switch, the fans came on straight away but aren't coming on at high heat. I'm now pretty confident the switch is my problem.
Hmm I guess you could run power through it with a test light on the other end. But multimeters cost like $8 and are available at any hardware or auto parts store
@gladivarious333 To be honest I dont really repair gauges any more, I just replace them. In a speedo or a tach when it gets so rusted that it doesnt work, its not worth it to me to take it apart and clean up all the little bits, especially when I can get a replacement for like $20 on ebay.
You should mention that you must check in all ohm scales on multimeter! Am i right? Cause i checked mine on 2000K and i was reading 1500 kohms .On other scales i was reading 1 =infinite. It took me some time to figure this out.But your video was very helpful .Thanks
thermo-resistor generally it will not go wrong unless that is very old old car ! the auto-repairman has connector adeptor, they will not remove that part just simply check ohm makse sure correct reading !

I have a 250cc gy6 touring scoot. The fan doesn't come on and the gauge does not work it just stopped 1 day. I would like to test or troubleshoot it to find out where exactly the problem is but this is all new to me. I found new parts they are cheap but still dont want to buy something i dont need or have another issue that will blow new parts
I have a 2004 ninja 500 and i need to buy a radiator cooling fan switch. Online i can only find sensors and thermostat switches, but not radiator switches. Help?? Can i buy a radiator switch for a car? And if yes? Which one?

Would this make my temp light stay on all the time? The fan seems to work normally and it doesn’t get hot I don’t think but the temp light is ALWAYS on..

I urgently need help with my Chery qq3 2008, I baught this vehicle 4months ago and spend a R11 000.00 so far on it and it is still over-heating. i have done the following: skeamed the block/head, replaced the thermostat, had the radiator checked, tested and cleaned. replaced the water pump and the water bottle......PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
