For the most part demons are very hesitant to even go near a person who's born again and fired up for God because it's like stepping into a burning building. A demon isn't exactly keen on making his home in a dreadful inferno of the LORD. If Christ is in you, then they're terrified of you because of him.

There's a difference between a demonic possession and a demonic doorway or attachment. A truly born again Christian who has the Holy Spirit cannot be possessed by a demon, because possession means ownership. We are possessed by Christ, we're his, we belong to him. However, if there are doors that are opened, demons can afflict, torment, tempt, and even latch themselves onto a Christian. But these are merely thorns in the flesh and you can get delivered from it. If you are in Christ then demonic attacks can be a hindrance but there are ways to guard against them and throw them off your trail, namely praying, fasting and getting deep in your Word.
