A requested video on how I thread my sewing machine. I don't know how helpful it is because every sewing machine is different but I went ahead and made this video anyways. Sewing machines are sort of similar, but not really. Mine is a really basic model. Its a bit loud but it works. I think it was about $100 something at costco.

your absolutey right! thanks for posting this reply, its a great help; but to add to it, even though this may not be needed, or you had already figured this out.You should test the tension on a scrap piece of fabric instead of the real thing, i have sure learned from my mistakes.

you really should thread with your presser foot up. The machines have a little release that allows the tension disks to separate a little so the thread can be properly tensioned. Kudos for the one handed threading though!

2JobsStillPoorUSA true but if you have a needle threader on your machine you have to lower the presser foot or the automatic needle threader will not work and you could possibly damage your machine happy sewing 🧵

I agree. She is trying to video with one hand and by so leaving parts not shown. Plus she isn't speaking/talking us through the steps. This video is as worthless as the one made by the maker.

the video doesn't show it, but the machine has a really small hook, it is very hard to spot, especially if you have bad sight as me. The hook is goes between those metal claws, so when you push the lever down the hook should come through the needle, with the thread you should first press against the first claw and try to catch the hook, then proceed to press the other claw. When you let go the lever, the hook draws back the thread.

you didn't show how to link the bobbin thread with the needle. That's what I need and you just closed the plastic case and then made it look like you could sew. It doesn't work that way. How do I get the bobbin thread to link with the needle threat? Aaaaaaaaaaagggghhhhh! I feel jipped!

David S with the presser foot up turn the wheel by hand 🖐 holding the upper thread lightly and it will bring the bobbin thread up hope it helps happy sewing 🧵

hey. i have the exact same machine, and did it just like you do, but for some reason when I start sewing, the bottom of the fabric, the thread is all tangled and messed up. Has it ever happened to you or do you know what I'm doing wrong?

i also have a singer 4220 and have never been able to use it because my sister and i can't figure it out. the string always bunches in the back. i'm never going to be able to use this.

@lx3lally IMO, good condition [REALLY] old machines are better. I prefer metal over plastic. I think plastic wears and tears too easily.I used my mom's Singer 9134 and I always had problems with it, I'm sure it worked great while it was new, but hey that's plastic. Eventually I got an older Kenmore model. Works great, it only has basic stitches, but fancy stitches aren't a necessity. Just as user friendly IMO w/ the manual(sold online too) even the net can be of service.

Mijail Bustos you need to bring the bobbin thread up to the top by turning the wheel by hand while holding the top thread loosely and turn so that it picks up bobbin thread hop it helps happy 😃 sewing 🧵

@lx3lally it has nothing to do with how you've threaded the top (although it does need to be correct)its your tension that needs adjusting! tighten or loosen the tension button until your stitches are neat. You'll need to adjust according to the type of fabric your sewing. Prob a bit late now but will help others reading it now.

@desiraemonique Q: What Camera do you use? A: I use a Canon SD 750, but I recently broke it. Sometimes I use my Microsoft LifeCam. Currently I am using the Canon Zr 200

Hi my machine knots up all the thread and it wont pick up the bobbine thread. What do u think it is!?

Make sure you’re putting the bobbin in correct the thread should come off to the left and the thread quality isn’t good I use polyester thread for years and never had a problem also if you bobbin is not wound correctly you’ll have a problem with the stitches hope this helps you happy sewing 🧵

I want to pull my hair out.....I fooled all day ( Hours ) with this machine. All the thread on the underside of my material looks like a bunch of junk. All bunched together big gaps and horrible looking. I have tried everything...HELP

Maya Miljevic buy polyester thread 🧵 you can’t go wrong on cheaper thread it’s like pieced together so to speak so every time you sew it pushes up against the needle instead of passing through it hope this helps happy 😃 sewing 🧵
