I'm a single Dad who finally decided to teach himself how to sew with a machine. I'm a Navy veteran so I've been handsewing for years (simple straight and whip stitches). I picked up a 2517 for $70 and have already spooled a bobbin, threaded the machine, and made a few test stitches on an old pillow case. Thanks for the videos! I'm a visual learner and they're great.
Eight years later and this a valuable tutorial. Thank you for sharing this simple yet effective tutorial. A child could do this based on your teaching style, yet as an adult it didn't make me feel like I was juvenile... I hope that made sense😂 ! Literally had this sewing machine sitting in my closet since last Christmas and finally decided to make use of it 😭 I gave up on threading it which is why it ended up getting put away, so glad I stumbled upon this video when I took it out

Kandia, your video is EXCELLENT!! Just bought this machine and I so appreciate your tutorial in that you spoke slowly, with additional close-up views. Brother should use YOU on their CD tutorials!! Finally, someone gives precise instructions with a step-by-step, slower than normal instructional voice. Yes, I know the machine has numbers, but I do better to WATCH hands-on instructions than reading the manual, ha. Many thanks!!

Congratulations! It is a really good starter machine! I have 6 of these and my students love these! In fact, when I decided to open a sewing school, I did research on lots of machines [price, manufacturer, availability and easy of use]. By far, this was the best hands down. It is also a workhorse!
