I've been having trouble with flicks since I started playing. Once you said not to leave space at 0:48, my whole throw changed. My throws aren't wobbly anymore! That was it!

That is terrific. Only thing I would add is highlighting the need to establish a strong pivot foot (left for right handed throwers, right for lefties). I see lots of veteran players throwing off the wrong foot. Its key for new players b/c they can then always pivot/turn around and throw a backhand dump if not comfortable w/ forced forehand option. Thx for putting this video out there--super helpful.

Some great tips in there! Thanks for putting that together. I've always had a great backhand, but my forehand always suffered some. The only decent forehand throws I could do involved putting my thumb inside the rim, leaning away to level off the frisbee and flicking it with the arm and wrist. Good power, but not great accuracy and it scrapes your wrist every throw.

The only thing missing from this video is how to put more or less touch/float on your flick he hints at just experimenting with it but it involves what your wrist does during the release of the throw by externally turning your wrist slightly when you release you can throw angled flicks that level out smoothly and float and are very easy to receivers to read and catch at the apex of their jump(way easier then flat throws) or internally rotating your wrist to throw or accurate blades that give the defender no chance.

Hey Rowan, amazing tutorial. What's your take on the 3 finger grip for forehand?
@SoBoredTv12321
@SoBoredTv12321 4 года назад
In general, most people describe the 2 finger grip as "power grip". I'm pretty sure it's because you get the best power/spin possible :)
@curtisclack9067
@curtisclack9067 4 года назад
You want your strongest finger on the edge of the disc to create to most power and stability. Unless your ring finger is stronger then your middle finger it's inefficient.(no body's ring finger is stronger then their middle finger)

Can i see How To LAYOUT ?
@jochemmecking3534
@jochemmecking3534 4 года назад
As I learned it, making layouts is not so much a technique you learn but more something you figure out by doing it. That might start off with just falling to the disc but that's already a great starting point. The technique comes with the experience in this case. The hardest part of making layouts is probably just start doing it. The best way in my experience is just to really convince yourself that you wanna have the disc and that you can have the disc even though it seems out of reach at first glance. The best layouts seem impossible, especially in the beginning, even for the player who is making them, but when I notice myself giving up because the disc is out of reach anyway I always try to convince myself that I can still have it and not always, but sometimes I am suddenly laying on the ground with the disc in my hands. I believe that's also why people are making more layouts in important games because they wanna have the diclsc so badly that they never give up. If you can get that mindset, making the layouts themself just simply goes naturally, without thinking about it. My worst layouts I make are the ones where I think in advance that I am gonna layout: those never work. Also, depending on where you're living it might be a great idea to try and join beach tournaments or pick ups. Here in the Netherlands almost every player first learnes to layout during one of our beach tournaments and then brings it to the grass. I hope you can get something out of this tips. Good luck and always play more ultimate!!

What part of your hand? If it's the meat between the thumb and index finger, take a rest and try again in a day or two when its a little less sore. It'll eventually strengthen in a few weeks so it doesn't hurt.
