I'm fishing 60 years, I tie Palomar, trilene and a uni. Never had a need for any other. This knot is ridiculous. Can't imagine trying this at 4 am in the river wading for stripers

Dont underestimate how good this knot is. I use 20 wraps all the way down to 10# braid to 6-8# Fluorocarbon with zero issues, its just as strong when i do 20 wraps with much heavier line.

RU-vid has quite a few videos on knots for mono/fluoro to braid. I’ve yet to find one on mono/fluoro to same, but larger. Examples: 8 lb fluoro leader to 12 lb mono main line 10 lb mono main line to 20 lb mono backing.

20 wraps above + 20 wraps below for 40 wraps or is it 10 wraps above + 10 wraps below for 20 wraps?

10 wraps above and below for 20 total wraps, however there isn't a hard rule.. For lighter lines you may want to use more wraps, and with heavier lines less wraps may be required to secure the knot.

Best knot in the world. Using this one only for 2 years now and I've ripped off the snaps , swivels, titanium leaders and bend out the hooks, but the FG always holds. If you get the routine it is easy possible to tie in under 2 minutes. I better invest 2 minutes once a day, than 1 Minute everytime the knot breaks.

Love this Video... when Do I only use Braid to tie directly to the lure... or baits....Also, when do I want to tie a leader... All situations... and different baits... I need a little cheat sheet to put it all together.??????????????????? thanks.

Very strong knot, no doubt….I just despise utilizing/wasting so much braid off my spools every time I tie an FG….I use up less braid when I tie an Alberto or a uni to uni knot…been using those knots mostly…no issues when I’m bass fishing…a different story, however, if you’re fighting big game fish. I’m gonna try a 12-15 wrap FG, add a half hitch (or 2), then finish with a 5 loop rizzuto,and measure the amount of braid I used.

Nice vid, but too much tag end on the braid. You wasted like a foot of main line braid with that tag end.

this fg knot is good for bigger lines but for anything 12 or under is a pain because you got to tighten your line very tight and this will will cut your fingers on light line. dropshot rig/light line just use double uni knot. Big lines and big braid, this is the best and smallest knot.

A better video to watch for a fg knot tutorial is briggsy fishing fg knot.some of my friends have tried the half hitch methods and it’s failed his version is a lot better
