"In this week’s episode of Tying Tuesdays, watch as Brady ties the Jigged Iron Sally! More and more patterns these days are converting and utilizing jig style hooks. Whether you are fishing Euro/Tight line nymphing or throwing under an indicator the benefits are there. The Iron Sally Stonefly pattern is a stonefly nymph that can easily be adapted to take advantage of a jig-style hook. This fly is an excellent offering when fishing locations that have an abundance of Yellow Sally Stoneflies but can also work well on other waterways that might have other Plecoptea (Stoneflies). I have always enjoyed a wire-wrapped body like you see on Brassies and Copper Johns. There is something special about using that method while interweaving a backing on top to create a realistic profile as well as segmentation. This pattern fishes great in a nymphing rig as a lead fly to help get into the zone."

Have you guys ever thought about doing a tying contest and the winner gets to come in and do a fly tying Tuesday video at the shop?

Go for it! It is a great way to feel connected to fly fishing while not being on the river!

Enjoy all your videos.Buggy pattern. How do you like the Mongoose? Can you do something about the wobble in the vise while your tying?Every fly tier has some issue, thats mine. Its a sturdy vise.Thankyou.

Great question, here is the response from the tyer: "I do really enjoy tying on the Mongoose. I have tied on it for our videos now for over three years and it has held up great. I honestly don't notice the wobble in the vise. The only thing I can recommend is making sure you have the rotary tension nice and snug against the resistance that you prefer. I also tie on a Stonefo Transformer at home and it has a lot more play due to the cam feature. Compared to that this vise is pretty solid."

Always great stuff from Avidmax! But I have learned some of these patterns catch more fisherman than fish. Jk , have been successful with many of the patterns and always look forward to Tuesday!
