In this tutorial I show you how to tie a snake knot. The knot has many uses in rope crafts, from making bracelets, lanyards, to even making dog leashes and zipper pulls.
It is a very common knot in the paracord crafts, so I highly recommend learning it.

Awesome! Quick and simple! I had a slighy head injury that affected my.memory, so if I go more than two or three days without tying a knot, I need to watch how to do it again. All the knots I learned before the injury I still know, it is just when I learn a new one. Thank you, take care!

@@JDStone20 yep.same stuff with me mate. Forget the movie or the series and can go back and watch it again. You have to look at the positive..those really good tv things we can triple enjoy them. Listen. I was thinking. When you get the burr up that quick your basically microbevelling.you are sharpening it right on the edge and in the end you have to obviously thin it all back out again.... but its a very good way of sharpening when u think about the time you input into it... and then just thin them out eventually. Because it cuts still quite well even when the angle is getting high if you cross the scratch patterns and light passes and do it right .

I know this vid is 4 years old, and I have used this as a guide before (great vid!), but I notice that this way of tying the snake knot differs from what most others do, in that this one ties and connects each subsequent knot together, whereas the traditional way is basically to tie separate knots, one knot tied tightly against the other. Does anyone with more experience with this know if there is an advantage of one version over the other?
@j.r.zepeda3171

what youre thinking of is a wall knot, commonly confused with the snake knot (thats called 'stacked wall knots'). paracord guild actually has a separate video specifically for wall knots

I just used this video and this version of a snake knot to make a small knife lanyard. There is another fellow who has a video on the snake knot where the basic knot is the same, but each knot section is actually a seperate knot that is tied then sinched up against the previous knot. When completed, it looks very much the same, but your version makes for a tighter, more smooth appearance. Is the other version actually called something else? He was also referring to it as a "Chris Reeve" knot?

An 18 inches long piece of paracord will make a 6 knots lanyard with a full length of approx 3 inches. Long enough to pull a fixed or folded knife or multi-tool out of the sheath. Just to give an idea of how much paracord you will need to make different length "snake knot" lanyard.
