Its a standup, like a longggg slide not for checks. They made the heelside and toeside for checks.

Can you guys do a video explaining how to ride in a pack for DH safely. A video explaining all the etiquette, general rules, and how to avoid sketchy situations in detail would be super helpful :)
@danielwillingmyre8620

Going back and watching this video after just doing this slide, all his words make sense cause that fear isn't there. Soaking it up is soo important, its not like a heel check where your putting all that you have onto your road side foot, this slide is all in the lean and placement of the back toes. Now I just gotta master at higher speeds.

This is the one thing I've refused to learn for the longest time out of fear of high-siding. When Jimmy says leaning all the way forward is better than eating major shit it puts it in a new perspective for me. Watchout standies here I come.
@muirskate
@muirskate 8 лет назад
You mean leaning back? Leaning forward could cause you to highside... If you lean back, against the hill, you can fall back against the hill and catch yourself with your pucks if you low-side. Low-siding is always better than high-siding. YOU GOT THIS!!!

I've got the cult creator 78a 72mm wheels and the caliber 2 forty-four 10" trucks but I can't get long slides. Also I keep doing short 180 slides. Should loosing up my trucks help a little? Should I go faster? I have no idea! please tell me!
@owendoyle8815
@owendoyle8815 8 лет назад
Go faster and rotate your shoulders slowly, letting them guide you around a slower rotation. It's the same motion as a quick 180 but drawn out. And as always, speed makes everything easier
@matthewsia3735
@matthewsia3735 8 лет назад
so how do you actually keep your front foot flat? is it just a matter of skating looser trucks?
@muirskate
@muirskate 8 лет назад
It helps if you have your front foot around a 45° angle across your board. This will allow you to open up your shoulders to the road while your hips and legs rotate the opposite way into the slide.

Why do I keep doing 180s? I'm doing the slide and when I push the board out it immediately goes into a 180 and I often get hide sided because of this. Does anyone know why that's happening?
@muirskate
@muirskate 8 лет назад
Make sure you're using your shoulders and eyes to guide you through your slide. Look where you want to go and open your shoulders up to the road like you're trying to give your buddy in front of you a hug. This will keep your back foot from going past 90° and doing a 180°

@TheNewKimito500454
@TheNewKimito500454 7 лет назад
It's easier when you have momentum yes, you don't want to grip up mid-slide. So pick a hill you're comfortable with. You can do it on a 2x4 if you practiced long enough. Yes, good sliding wheels will definitely help, but ultimately it comes down to practice and commitment.
@Simoncattan
@Simoncattan 9 лет назад
your weight should be about 75% front foot and only 25% in the back foot, if you do it 5050 youre gonna end up doing a backside 180, not a toeside check.
@AShowOf2Bros
@AShowOf2Bros 9 лет назад
Not necessarily. If you monkey toe then you'll want to do that but I don't monkey toe and if I don't do 50/50 my foot slips off. And I can toe check and 180 just fine
@user-kx3kh7bv2l
@user-kx3kh7bv2l 3 года назад
Agree, I believe we need to put as much weight as possible to your front foot. Back one is only for balance. It should be “the back follows the front” not “front follow the back” to me.
@LuZu_
@LuZu_ Месяц назад
@@user-kx3kh7bv2lthis can’t be true. i’ve been practicing for a week now. i find if i put too much weight on my front, the board pivots more and wants to spin. it also seems to result in me struggling to stay over the board and i fall to the side.

LSW Games lean over the board and flex your ankles at the same time. Less restrictive bushings and a higher degree baseplate on your trucks will help too, same with a shorter wheelbase

@amangels78
@amangels78 7 лет назад
Brad Mohre it depends on your wheels, if you’re rocking some grippy race wheels you’ll need to be going really fast but if you have slippery wheels then you don’t need to be goin fast. Just go as fast as you’re comfortable with and wear your pads
