Except for reversing like a maniac, your driving forward tests were quite usual for seasoned 2CV drivers. I have had 3 x 2CV6s from new, over 40 years and covered 550,000 km. Lots of manic driving on twisty roads for pure amusement and to maintain momentum. Nothing is as much fun as a 2CV which makes new friends everywhere you venture. Viva La Difference!! @@Electrowave My record is 134 kph on the GPS down hill with a tail wind and the speedo needle buried in the dash. The only instability you feel in a 2CV is in strong cross winds, swaying the car on its suspension. Small corrections on the very direct rack and pinion steering are all that is needed.
@@stephenberry1205 Did you try downhill then do a sharp turn like in the video? It's amazing watching the 2CV lean like that without toppling over. I nearly bought on once, years ago. I should not have listened to my friends' advice. Now they are very expensive if they are running and in OK condition.
@@Electrowave There are a few classic 2CV sayings. The limit of the road holding is when the door handles dig in. You can tell a 2CV driver by gravel rash on their elbows. The final limit of cornering in a 2CV is the arms of the driver. The steering gets heavier and heavier the harder you corner and the roll angle increases until you are dangling inside rear wheel. At that point the car goes into mild understeer. The only way to topple a 2CV going forward is if a front wheel rim digs in if a tyre is peeled off through massive under inflation or hitting a very large pothole mid corner at crazed French men cornering velocity.... Or on a bouncy dirt 2CV Cross circuit race in a stripped down body with extra grip mud and snow tyres.

@Joe Shumo Some cars from the 2 cv family (Ami 6) had front anti-roll bars that can be adapted on 2 cv. The handling is said to be greatly improved on dry roads, yet I heard there was a tendency to understeering on wet/slippy roads.
Where I live we unfortunatly can't take our 2cv and Acadyane out in the snow because in the Alps the roads have to be salted. They would just rust beyond repair.
@@hoizmiche7689 In France too roads are salted, and most cars from the pre-1990s era liked rusting. People used to deal with that, more or less successfully... By the way, brand new 2cv chassis (and body parts) are still available - guys from mehariclub make them using the original Citroën equipments.

tuvo que que hacer tremenda maniobra excentrica para hacerlo , eso demuestra su increible resistencia a los vuelcos. cuando los ingleses hagan autos como la gente que no valgan medio millon de euros por ahi hablamos . pero hasta ese momento que sigan volcando autos ajenos.
El 2CV es el único coche imposible de volcar siempre que vayas hacia delante. De por si en la prueba del alce da mejores notas que un coche moderno, y sin ayudas. Eso si, no puede hacer un giro en J. Todo debido a su configuración de amortiguacion y su distribucion de pesos. Es mas si rebuscais por hay hay videos de como el 2 CV puede circular con solo 3 ruedas, si pinchais 2 veces es posible seguir andado sin una de las ruedas traseras, el coche no volvara y no tocara el suelo.
RufusNK Totalmente de acuerdo .Yo he conducido uno (bueno, un Dyane 6,que tiene igual suspensión) y una vez, bajando una cuesta en una pista de tierra al llegar a una curva a mucha velocidad lo incliné sobradamente y se me fue a la cuneta.Pero aun así, de volcar, nada. (La cosa no pasó de un susto).Esta suspensión es muy suave y de gran recorrido apta para cualquier camino. Además, las ruedas del lado que se levanta no llegan a despegarse del suelo.
Nothing new. That was already known in the 80s when a friend almost rolled mine over with 4 people in it - including me. Going down a small forest road backwards and then suddenly turning. We were pretty shocked but were lucky. But one of us told afterwards he had heard someone figured out it could be rolled by suddenly turning when driving backwards.

Que no tienen buena estabilidad marcha atrás se sabe desde que se probó el primero, yo tengo varios clasicos entre ellos un 2cv y cuando vas marcha atras ya se deja notar cuando giras que no te permite ir deprisa sin excesivo balanceo o brusquedad en la dirección... Aunque tambien tienes que ir a cierta velocidad pretendiendo volcar de dicho modo, es un poco absurdo en realidad... Pero en fin, que nada descubrieron los Argentinos con sus "acacharradas" copias de los modelos franceses, si lo hicieron, que lo desconocia, hicieron pues igual que el idiota que hace este video...

La fábrica pretendía mostrar que era imposible de volcar.Se ve en el video como hacia adelante el piloto hace todas las maniobras y no lo vuelca hasta que se le ocurre hacerlo marcha atrás y ahí si. Tampoco se dijo que fuera cosa que hubiera descubierto el ya fallecido piloto de TC Di Palma. Tal vez se lo haya visto a algún otro, como tal vez se le ocurrió a él. Ya es tarde para averiguarlo. Well, you have to go at max speed in reverse gear to make it do that. That alone proves the superior road handling of the 2cv. This situation would NEVER occur in real traffic. As for the rest: a real shame you f***** up this beautiful car. It's not easy being green :-(
@@rafox66 They call it the ugly duckling for a reason yes... Do you know the actual reason? Citroën hyped the "TPV" since before WW2 as a simple but advanced efficient car. Dozens of prototypes were made with all kinds of for the time high end materials, and they hyped it up even more in the last year coming up to the reveal of the final design. Citroën was making the beautiful Traction Avant at the time with a swan emblem in the logo, a pre-war car that desperately needed (and the public and press expected that) a 4-speed gearbox and better suspension (both only introduced years later on the DS). When the 2CV was finally released, they showed a very basic flimsy car with a ripply bonnet, stamped grille, externally locked cloth roof and even just a piece of cloth for a bootlid, an umbrella handle for a gear selector, a speedometer in an odd location that also powered the windshield wipers, and the promise of an engine that only produced 9 horsepower and couldn't even be shown yet... Knowing the VW Beetle was already in production at the time. Ofcourse the press was disappointed and one smartass shouted "the swan has given birth to an ugly duckling!". However the public did love it despite the bad press. Apart from not being the spawn of nazis, it had the engine in the right place, suspension that excellently dealt with the bad post-war roads, 4 doors, a boot in the back with a removable rear seatbench... They soon had a waiting list of 7 years and had to ramp up production a LOT. Just like the tale of the ugly duckling, the 2CV did become a beautiful swan: the chassis got stronger, the bootlid became metal and lockable, the roof locking system moved to the inside, the front end was updated, a third side-window was added, the engine grew to 602cc which produced over 3 times as much power as the original 375cc and almost as much as the heavier VW Beetle with literally twice the engine... Millions of 2CVs were sold and they still have a large following of people all over the world who like the 2CV for what it is, not because it's hyped in movies, not because of political or counter-cultural associations, not because of a tuning hype, mostly not even because of the fact it's manufacturer...

El 2cv es un auto muy sencillo pero a la vez sus creadores pensaron muchos aspectos adelantados a la época, el 2cv traia un mecanismo en las cuatro ruedas para soportar los ladeos al girar, por este video me di cuenta que de frente resulta pero en reversa no.
En la pampa habia un concurso de volcar un 3CV, el premio era un auto 0km.. pasaron cientos de personas y 3 años seguidos y hasta ahora nadie lo pudo volcar, ni siquiera haciendo para atras jajajjaajaajaja
Tuve la posibilidad de tener un buen coche nuevo a estrenar cuando me saque el carnet hace menos de un año, lo rechazé y me compre un Dyane hecho polvo y oxidado para restaurarlo con mis manos y disfrutarle como clasico porque se que esta a la altura de hacer la funcion que hace cualquier coche actual, incluso mejor. Y luego ves a gente que se divierte destrozando a esos coches por el simple hecho de no tener un motor con 50 cilindros y una tapiceria de piel... que lastima...
Last official produced 2cv was made in Portugal in 1990. unofficially they continued in a small scale production at a workshop in France but these were officially re constructions of old cars. In Britan there is a company that restores 2cv's pretty much regardless of the condition, and can replace both chassis and body.

La historia que escuché yo es que Citroen hizo un concurso diciendo que quien pudiera volcar el 2CV (el auto involcable), se ganaría un segundo auto. La historia cuenta que sólo una persona lo logró hacer y fue un argentino.
Tanto el 2cv, el 3cv y el America (no así el Super América) tenían la misma característica. Yo logré volcar un 3cv hacia adelante. Fue en hormigón llano, no mordí cordón ni pozo, ni siquiera una piedrita, y el auto era 100% original. Quieren saber cómo?
Lo que creo que pasa con este video es, que en los años cuando apareció el 2cv la publicidad para vender más era la siguiente, si usted encuentra la forma de volcar uno de nuestros 2cv le regalamos otro. Me lo conto alguien de la época.
Personalmente soy de coches más antiguos, no soy muy partidario de apurar tanto las maquinas, pero tampoco te engañaré en que no lo hago... Mi pasión son los coches clásicos, es más poseo uno restaurado por mi en su totalidad, y en gran parte ésta afición surgió por ser capaz de observar que en realidad los coches no han evolucionado tanto estos últimos tiempos y que un clasico puede ser mejor en muchos aspectos pese no tener radio de ultima generacion, gps u ordenador de abordo...
@@therotiv4 En mi caso tengo un Dyane 6... Para trabajar y para el campo tiene poco rival sin tener un 4x4, en coste de mantenimiento y consumo tampoco... (una garrafa de 20w50 al año, un filtro y 6l de gasolina a los 100), el precio de sus repuestos, la durabilidad y la facilidad de reparacion sin necesitar un taller... Sigue dando el mismo servicio que en 1979 y en resumen, está amortizado no, lo siguiente. Ya solo por economia es mejor, pero si hablamos de versatilidad etc... Tambien... Depende del uso de cada uno en un coche. Si hay que hacerse 400km de carretera a 43 grados en la calle... Es peor que uno nuevo, pero para uso utilitario y de trabajo... Es un coche sin delicadezas que nunca ha subido en una grua y que, por dos duros, llega a todas partes. No tendrá airbags, ni pantallita, ni aire acondicionado, ni llegará a 140, pero no por ello un coche es mejor... Un coche es mejor cuando cumple su funcion sin desangrar un bolsillo tantos años como se quiera. Humilde opinion.

@karinayezzi1 Pero me parece que el primero que lo volco en argentina, fue el viejo Di Palma. Cuando trajeron el 2CV a Argentina, para publicitarlo, al primero que lograra volvar uno, le regalaban un 2CV. Nadie pudo, hasta que Di Palma lo volco yendo marcha atras como en este video.

no es ningun crimen lo que hizo al volcarlo, esta recreando algo que ya hizo Luis Di Palma. Cuando recien salio el citroen para promocionarlo invitaban al que se anime a volcarlo y de premio le regalaban un auto. Nadie podia hasta que Di Palma hizo la misma maniobra que esta en el video, lo llevo a fondo marcha atras y volantio
