Came to this video update from your 2022 conversion tutorial. I won't miss any of your tutorials, they are so well done plus you teach in a concise & thorough voice. Many thanks for the videos
I have been wondering about the difference between GA4 Data Driven conversion import versus dedicated Google Ads Data Driven Conversion for a while now. You are the first person I have seen cover this, thanks! Basically, from my interpretation from your video, dedicated Google Ad conversion tracking attributes Google Ad as the source of conversion regardless of any other "external" touch points. As long as the user has clicked on an ad at some point, Google Ads will be attributed. Whereas GA4 conversion tracking can dilute the attribution across all touch points of the conversion (if this is how the conversion occurred).
Verfy impressing now that we can select Audio in Spanish. Gracias Benjamin saludos desde México. Se aprende mucho en tu canal y lo mejor es que es gratis.
Thank you for this information. In many other tutorials including yours I see that all you need to set up is Conversion Linker and the Conversion Event. Googles instructions say to have the base GAds code on all pages. Do you need to set up a 3rd tag to fire on all pages or is this what the Conversion Linker is for? Appreciate any help here!
So helpful, I am really enjoying learning from you. One thing I am struggling with that I did not see covered is how to track conversions if I am testing two separate landing pages from the same ad. Is there a way to separate which landing page is converting? Obviously that data would be super useful. Thanks!
I have a problem. The Google Ads give me just two option, instal manualy or email to developer. Option Tag Manager is not available so, where do I get conversion label and conversion ID? In the code provided from install manualy option is missing there. Thx for help!
When you select the option to install the code yourself you should see something like 'send_to': 'AW-6542321/aBcD3456eFgH', the 6542321 is the conversion ID, and the aBcD3456eFgH is the label. And if you're still encountering issues finding the conversion ID and label, then I would recommend contacting Google Ads support.
Great video, but I am curious if there is some sort of way to rank a conversion higher than another conversion. Is it the "Value" field that we enter? Like a conversion with a higher value will give the source ad keywords a boost in rankings versus a lower value conversion? e.g I have an ad that takes a user to my quote form which I track as a conversion, but if they complete the form, I would obviously want Google to consider that 10x better.
Hi Loves Data, Thanks for another well-made tutorial! There is one thing I am having trouble to understand. When do I need to implement a push.datalayer (like you showed for Shopify add_to_cart and purchase events) and when is it sufficient to implement the tag via google tag manager as you showed for this video?
Hi Benjamin, Love the video! Quick question... when creating conversion tracking for clients( ie: a website that is not your own) would you just put their domain in the "website domain" field and then proceed with the rest of the process? Or is it a different process when installing the tags in a clients website?
Hey your videos are super helpful, thanks for making them!!! On the topic covered in this video in particular, Im having an issue. Seeing the error message "An internal error occurred. Please try again later" when I hit the "Save and continue" blue button at the bottom of the "Add conversion actions" page - the first one in the steps of creation the conversion action after having scanned my website and accepting the suggestion Google gives me. I really dont know what the issue could be. Are you aware of ways to find out whats wrong or what might be causing this?
Hey Benjamin, great comprehensive video! I've been using the option to import conversions from Google Analytics 4 but after seeing this video I'm considering switching to the dedicated Google Ads Conversion Tracking tag for more accuracy. My only concern is that I have an active PMax campaign which is using an automated bidding strategy relying on a long history of data from the existing conversion actions that are imported from GA4. When I create a new conversion action with the dedicated Google Ads tag, and remove the imported one, will this trigger a new learning phase for the campaign's automated bidding meaning it will have to restart from scratch? Any recommendation in this situation would be very much appreciated. :)
I have seen conversions imported from GA4 improving in accuracy, so I suggest setting up the dedicated Google Ads conversion tracking in parallel, but setting it as a secondary action. This lets you compare performance before making a decision on which is more accurate.
Unfortunately, I'm no longer seeing the third option to 'Use Google Tag Manager', so I won't be able to try this out. It seems there are quite a few people reporting the same issue online. I wonder if this has to do with Google changing from the GA4 configuration tag to the Google tag...
Try creating the conversion in Google Ads, then look for 'Tag set-up' in the 'Details' tab. You should find the option there. And if it's still missing, then you can find the conversion ID and conversion label in the Google Tag event snippet. It will look like 'send_to': 'AW-123456/abc123efg' the '123456' is the conversion ID and the 'abc123efg' is the conversion label that you can use in GTM.
Thanks Benjamin. I found out that when adding the conversion action in Google Ads, a message is displayed: 'Google Analytics will measure conversions that you create or import for this website domain. New conversions will also be available to use in Google Ads.' Alongside this message, I had the option to select 'Use Google Ads only'. When selecting this option, the 'Use Google Tag Manager' option show in the next step when setting up the tag. I have now enabled Google Ads conversion tracking in parallel as a secondary action. Looking forward to finding out about any differences in conversions tracked compared to the ones imported from GA4.
I dont have the third option of using GTM, only using Google Tag or email to webmaster. Not sure where I have gone wrong? Can I do something with the snippet inside tag manager?
Another great video, Benjamin. I could watch you all day (and occasionally have)! A question: I've read elsewhere that using a thank-you page may not be the best method to track ad conversions for form submissions, though I'm unclear about alternatives. Do you have an opinion on this? Do you recommend the thank-you page method generally?
Okay, so you showed us how to set up google tags , great that worked. But you never went back to show the conversion action settings under google ads. How is this supposed to supposed to complete the conversion actions and actually see this setting as active?
I am confused. Now that Google integrates into Shopify, is it still necessary to manually install Google Tag manager on using code? And if it is not necessary, do the steps in this video still apply?
I generally recommend using the Google app, but if you’re on Shopify Plus or you want additional control, you can use GTM. Here’s my video covering the Google app: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dB3TaDRnyGw.html
I did all the steps that you mentioned in this video and the previous one, but unfortunately Google takes money from me for clicks, not successful conversions.
how to track instagram account : I run google ads without website instead I use my Instagram account, so I send the ppl when they click to my IG account so how can I track the conversion and which biding to use ?
