I love his show and thisjust summarizes and lays out all of the basic methods he uses on the show. What i love about this guide ru-vid.comUgkxKkYeOoCV_w2vPX0CSyVWkhew2c4FYk0d is that you don' need to read the whole book cover to cover ... You can skip to the chapter (lesson) you want to read about. The book is arranged almost as a problem-solving guide ... Here is the problem and here is what you need to know/do to correct it. This man knows his stuff ... But more importantly knows how to teach people how they can work with their pups themselves!
I will give you some great ideas, tricks, and instruсtion that maу helр you turn уoоoour puppy into the best behaved, most happpyy, jogging, bouncing, slipppppppеr-fetching beeest рal you always wаntеd?. I LOVE this young lady's vids. The other vids I've seen take almost half of the vid yapping about themselves. This young lady got right to the point, no yapping about useless stuff, thank you. GREAT VID !!!
You are so right! This dog trainer teaches very well of how to train the dog to lay down. My mom went to a dog training class with my puppy and it didn't help at all.
Thank you! My girl is so intelligent and very easy to train but I just haven't been able to get her to lay down!! Your limbo method worked a treat for us ☺️ (once she finally realised she didn't get the treat if she went around or over 😂)
I’m not even joking!! I tried this with my 6 month old chiweenie and she learned this in a week. I never thought it was possible. Thanks to this video!
I'm so glad I found your videos today. We just started puppy classes with our Shiba this past weekend. I think watching your videos will reassure me that I'm doing things correctly. Thank you for posting.
Thanks for the training help. I never had dogs until a few years ago, and my first dog is a fully trained protection dog that came out of the 'box' very obedient. I just re-homed a two year old dog that apparently ran the house in her last home. I have been working with her the last two weeks and we have come a very long way with consistent patient training. Even old dogs can learn new tricks...smile.
Thank you for these videos I'm puppysitting for new neighbors and I want to be able to instill good behavior for there new puppy. Much appreciated for someone that loves dogs and spends time with them even though not an owner myself.
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge of training dogs. I just brought home a new German Shepard puppy a few days ago. He learns quick but I wasn't sure how to get him to lay down. I followed your advice and within minutes, he was laying down. I appreciate that you took the time to make the video that is so helpful.
Seriously impressed. Tried this with my 16 week old miniature bull terrier, who had been so stubborn with the "down" command. I can honestly say after just the first four minutes I followed the same instruction and Dexter (🐶) repeatedly goes down now. THANK YOU X
Y'all have no idea how helpful this was for me. I've been trying to get my pup Luminescence to lay down for WEEKS. Followed this "tutorial" and she got it down in five minutes. Thank you thank you THANK YOU!!!
I miss my dog. I remember when she looked like this dog as a puppy. RIH shelby. I was never able to teach her down. I will use this video for my future new dog. BTW you are cute.
This is great! I was a dummy and first time dog owner who didn’t teach her pup all these basic commands when she should have. My pup is still young though (1 year) so I’m trying to catch up . This being one of the commands. I’ve been working with my pup for the last 3 days for 10minutes and he is already doing so well. Thanks for sharing and I’ll definitely look to this page for more help 😊
Only had to watch the first 50 seconds of this video and had my dog laying down on command in under 3 minutes. Great trainer. Thanks for the helpful hint w/ the treat and your great work, good luck. Subscribed.
Thank you for your dedication and sharing, this really helps my Wife get acquainted with how it's done. Oh and to the 44 with the thumbs down, shut it.
Thank you so much for this video!! My 12 week old Shiba Inu learned down! ☺️☺️ the tip on helping their positioning with the hand above their back really helped!!
You gave some awesome tips on how to get your dog to lay down properly. The arm bar technique is definitely something that I will be trying. Thank you 😊
This girl's videos are some of the best dog training videos on RU-vid. Very thorough and professional. Trying to train my shepherd cross using your videos. Thanks.
I have a possibly silly question: I have taught my puppy to lie down from the sitting position, as you also suggested. We used „down“ so often that he now seems to have forgotten „sit“. He does understand what sit means but most of the time proceeds to lie down just a second later or so. He maintains the sitting position only for a moment now. And once he lies down, I can’t get him to sit up with „sit“ anymore. Is there any way to „re-teach“ him sit (without „un-teaching“ down)?
Teaching the Down from the Sit position teaches the dog to unknowingly "creep" forward while going into the Down position. For pets, who cares, but for comp, it will be points deducted. Teaching Down from a standing position is ideal. They drop straight down. That's just my two cents.
SOUL4CASH NOrefunds idk where you get those facts from. I treat command train my dog and she does the command without the treat in real life situation. Trick is to teach them with the treat at first and then continue to train the same command but take the treat out of the equation and they will learn to do the command by simply being told. You still have to praise them for doing a good job.
Thank you so much I just got a new puppy. I been using your training. She been responding very quickly. I taught her how to sit and give a paw by your videos. Thank you so much.
LOVE these videos!! I have learned so much from these videos from K9-1 and have been successful in the begining part of my training with my 9 week old Dalmatian puppy! I am a proud doggie mom and she loves the training successions! Shes always looking at me for more.
My newly adopted dog Tucker (no manners or training prior) learned this in about 10 repetitions and retained it! Great instruction and description. Thank you!
Great Training. All the information. Given to all the public as open, valuable, information. Of course. Love the channel. Let us all push forward for the training. Absolutely.
Me! But it is getting better. She puts down one paw. Sometimes she just jumps at the treat and eats it! ;^; Keep on trying. (Sorry. I am two years late lol) Edit: MY DOG DID AGHHHH
Excellent trainer, I have seen many videos, and the video training by her is easy to follow, and of exceptional usefulness and value. Thank you. Rajeeve NZ (German Shepherd Puppy owner)
Wow ! My dog picked so quick (via hand motion). We did it as I watched this video . He’s done it now with treat in hand & without treat in hand . We’ll practice on just the command , no hand motion over the next couple of days . Grateful for this video . He’s a rowdy almost 5 month old. He only knows sit , shake/high five , & “blanket” which is where he lays .
Slowly phase out the treat (every other one). Also, what are you doing to reward your pup when there is no treat? You still need to reward them (whether it's a pup massage, excitement, showing lots of love)
@@LisaGallegos I am having the same issue and he does not seem to care granted I got him today but he still does not like my affection all that much but he cannot go without my presence I just left to go to the bathroom for under a minute and he barked he is still a pup.... But also a foster so I have no idea how it is gonna go.
@@relo4d604 If you just got him today, I would recommend still training with treats. It will take a few weeks for your pup to get acclimated for sure! He is probably scared right now, so be patient
I love your videos. I wanted to find the perfect dog training techniques to learn from before I looked into getting my puppy. You're amazing and I wanna thank you for these videos! 😁😁😁
Is a silent stay a better method than a verbal stay? Stay as a command worked brilliantly with my sisters black lab/collie who I pretty much raised for her for the first two years. Her obedience is fantastic. I just think it's worth knowing if a silent stay and free command are overall better as I do like your method more. Thanks
James Cohen incorporating a release word helps to teach the dog not to pop up out of a sit, down or stand position. It conditions them to remain until they hear the release word. That's not to say that a "verbal stay" doesn't have it's value or it's place. It teaches them to remain in the position that was just cued , until given the next cue. (free, heel, come, and so on)
I have a 11 week old German shepard that I just tried this on, took 15 times and now he’s pretty much got it. Will take some practice without treats but this was amazing
Ћурђа are you using the same treats you used to teach the sit command? If so maybe try something new and if not maybe try using the same ones but either way make sure the pup likes the treat
Try having something they need to partially go under so he/she has to lay their body down to follow your hand to the treat. I used a clothes wrack and after figuring out I wanted his entire body down to give the treat, I was able to remove the bar he had to go under and he does the trick fine.
Thank you so much Now my dog knows how to sit when I say sit now I just need to teach him to lay down and other things but thank you I couldn’t have done this without you!
My dog won’t even get in position. :-: (He’s 2 and a half years old, and literally has only been trained to stand on his hind legs, jump and crawl under and over things, sit, and wait to eat the treat) (Breed is Bloodhound greatdane)

+Dog Training by K9-1.com I\'m not sure but ,if anyone else trying to find out puppy training methods try Nevolly Top Dog Nerd (should be on google have a look ) ? Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my co-worker got excellent results with it.
I cant believe and i dont know if anyone else will believe.I just watched the first 1 min 40 s of the video and with just that i was able to teach my 4 month lab to lie down. My Pluto has always been intelligent😇Thank u for sharing this video and i will watch the remaining part too and will check out ur other videos.❤
Haleigh Walker we have 2 chis and they don't like lying down on floors. Maybe that's the issue? Def start on carpet! They were fussy at first but we got them to do it eventually perfectly!!
It helps me alot in training my new family member,a german shepherd .... PLease send to my mail lyngdohwanpynhunlang@gmail.com ... I will deeply appreciate ...
Goooooosh!!!!! 🤩🤩🤩 Absolutely APPRECIATE you!!!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 My gorgeous Chow (chow chow breed, abounded dog, didn’t know any commands) just learned how to get down😅I’m a First time dog owner 😅 So excited and happy for him. Thank you 💋💋💋
How did they learn to stand when you saying down?Do not reward them of this behavior. I suggest going to a local dog trainer to help you. Also what might help is saying stand instead of down reward when they stand and once they are confident in that start using down with the hand gestures and work your way off of treats.
***** The problem isn't them knowing english. it is them doing the wrong thing and they aren't doing much about it. This needs to be corrected because it is wrong.
Wow - this training finally got my German Shepherd puppy in DOWN position! My wife thought him, but only if she puts her hand down on the floor. Now, he's doing it at my verbal command. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
Why is my oldest dog being so hyper? I can't train him! He bounces everywhere and barks at me, but what's weird is his two youngest sons are calm and I can train them. What?
Divinity you can teach the oldest dogs anything but since it is now an old dog they are used to doing things like they've always done but you can train the oldest dog anything you like but it will take a long time to train it
I’m having to start at the shaping method with our mini-Aussie puppy. We started on training late as she’s 6 months old now. Training is chaotic as we have to remove or other two dogs to work with her. She already knows come, sit, kennel, out and in, no-bark, take it and leave it. She also is mostly heel trained. We now need to teach her lay down, go to bed, and work on longer distance obedience for stay, sit-stay, and down-stay. She also jumps up on us incessantly so training is far from over. Our family is always impressed with how will trained and behaved our other two dogs are but we feel that reputation slipping away as even our other two are not trained on lay down or go-to-bed. I went to a professional training course with my Newfie-Bernese Mountain dog when she was 4-7 months old and I could have her in a perfect heel off leash and her recall was perfection itself. I loved that dog so much and she was my pride and joy as well as my best friend. Going from training a 50lb puppy to dogs that don’t top 17lbs at fully grown has been a struggle of mentality and I’ve had to adapt in ways i never thought I’d have to. I know it’s my responsibility as their owner to do whatever it takes though and I’m committed to it! Thanks for this video and we’ll see how it goes.
Thank you so much for this video!! My Australian Shepherd was having trouble with this command, and luring her with the treat down wasn't working. I did the arm bar trick and it worked PERFECTLY!!! She will now do the command without a treat. She is still having trouble with up though, so any tricks on that would be helpful. Luring her up with the treat close to her mouth doesn't work. She will inconsistently get up if I hold the treat about 6 inches above her head and she'll eventually sit up to get it. I think up will take more work for us.
