Thank you for so much thought provoking tips absolutely free. I am dealing with a dog that is stressed like something I've never seen. She came to us as a stray. Living in a rural area I'm encountering increasing numbers of abandoned dogs. You've given me a lot to digest. I hope to help the animals if I can.
What if the trigger is me? She is backward around others as well. For example she wont approach people but she will get close and wait for you to come to her, then accept pets and will lean into the petting. She is more skittish of me runs away if im walking in a room but crawls in bed with me for pets and snuggles. If I stop petting her she immediately leaves the bed. She is a rescue who we assume was abused, possibly by a tall thin woman but dont really have any backstory on her. We have had her 3m and is much more relaxed but skittish. She wont take a treat unless you lay in in front of her and walk away. Same with toys and food, she will only play or eat if alone.
I have an extremely fearful dog. She’s like an etch a sketch. She will be fine in the house nothing going on and suddenly she’s shaking petrified unresponsive and acts like she’s never seen me or my husband ever in her life. We adopted her about a month ago she’s two and we don’t know what her history is. She is so incredibly fearful that we cannot get through to her in any way. She won’t take treats or even pets when she’s fearful. I just don’t know where to start. 80% of the time she’s horrified by my husband no matter what he does and she’s extremely clingy with me. I need help and idk where to even start with a dog that is this terrified at all times. We do give calming treats. We tried a thunder shirt. We found high value treats. I don’t know what her triggers are because it’s random, sometimes when nothing at all is happening. I need help
I think leading the walk is a factor in bad pulling behavior. They learn the route and then go Brain Off Speed Run mode instead of stopping and thinking
how to train an anxious dog who just sits shaking with his ears pinned and won't move, listen to commands or eat? this has only happened recently and I'm not sure why nothing has changed but his personality has completely switched

My dog isnt really anxious, but wont take any treats. All she wants is sniff everything or say hi to everyone and does not care about me at all outside. Inside its fine 😩
There are no videos of you doing any training. None whatsoever, yet, here you are giving "Advise" I can also read a book and call myself an expert. Do you even have experience training dogs?
She does virtual sessions where her clients work with the dog and she coaches. Or they review footage from exercises she gave them. Many such videos appear throughout her yt videos with the owner's faces obscured.
