Hey guy, great content! I've recently been having trouble staying cool on rides (I live in Little Rock, AR). I work in a 85+ degree shop all day which doesn't help. I do my best to hydrate and eat throughout the day. My threshold heart rate has raised (in cooler weather I start to see stars at 185 bpm, but now my HR peaks at 200 bpm.) Riding at/under my FTP (roughly 225w) , my HR sits at 185 and with any sustained effort above FTP my HR immediately climbs to 190+ (even after rests dropping my HR below 150. My lungs and legs feel great but I have been having to back off to prevent from passing out. Any suggestions?

I have the opposite situation. I live and train in Miami and in the summer we have 90+F and 80%+ humidity. I plan to race in NC where there is a lot less heat and humidity. Do I also need to adapt to that or can I just ignore it because the conditions are "easier"?

As we talk about in the video, it can be good to work in heat adaption workouts, but you don't want to allow the heat to compromise the quality of key workouts. Typically, this means that your high difficulty workouts for the week will be done in the cool, while your less difficult workouts can be done in the heat to aid heat adaption.

In this case since we are talking about "less warm/humid" conditions, there's no need to worry at all. The only thing you may notice is while the conditions may seem hot to others, you should be used to them, so that's a perk! When it comes to cold, we haven't seen any data that shows benefits of cold adaption training. That said, any conditions that are foreign to an athlete can be psychologically challenging, so preparing yourself for that aspect can be helpful.
