I enjoy how you "create" your own games and scoring to work specifically on one or two components. Keeps it fun and competitive. Great stuff!

Thank you for your time and posting. It is interesting, I have no problem doing 3rd shot drops in drills, but can't (didn't want to say choke) do them in a game.

More reps!! Really focus on them in rec play as well.

Nice video. Can you make a video of the footwork and positioning of crosscourt forehand dinking? Always feel like I’m unstable on the forehand side and pop up the ball. I use a continental grip, while coupling with a soft wrist, but still have problems with the shot. Thanks.

I definitely will eventually. In the mean time, this backhand dink video. Similar principles apply on the forehand side.

Kyle, Thanks for your "real world" training videos. Technique is important, but when, how, where, to actually use the technique is the essence of drilling and practicing. Keep up the good work and best of luck in your tournament play!

funny how you were talking about Steph but showed a video clip of Klay. I get the point though. Start slow and accurately. Then progress into the more challenging. It's easier to get faster/quicker than it is to get more accurate when working at pace.

HAH! Good catch. I searched a long time for a clip of steph doing form shooting. Couldnt find it. So i tried to slip one by the people with klay. 😂

Good tips Kyle - I need work on my 3rd shot drop and I hit the tape a lot but it always drops on my side :-( Kyle - PLEASE CLARIFY for ME and EVERYONE ELSE - when is the ball out on a line call? I thought I understood this from Rule 6.D.6 but when watching the Grand Rapids Beer City tournament (on youtube) this weekend, they had some great slow-mo camera coverage of balls and lines and I could not believe the way they were calling balls out (with 48% of the ball hanging over the white line) considering Rule 6.D.6. which says - "Players shall not call a ball out unless they can clearly see a space between the line and the ball as it hits the ground." So in your court pictured above, a player must clearly see a line of green (out of bounds court) between the Yellow ball and the White line. In the RU-vid Video from Beer City Grand Rapids tourney the calls are being made based on the estimated contact patch of the ball and the court surface. There is NO clearly seen Green space or Green line between the yellow ball and the white line...from any angle of viewing on those calls. What am I getting wrong, are there different rules for Pro tournaments than the USA Pickleball Official Rulebook (2023)? Or are there different rule books for the different P-ball organizations. I have no doubt your clear and concise instructions can enlighten me. Thanks in advance.

Yeeeagh,?, came to verbal blows in a pickup game over same issue. Conflict always comes from fatigue when your guard is down. Wish I'd just left it and go on to the next serve. Some do not want to 'see' the line others just want to win.

To my eye you seem to be using more of a side swing back on these 3rds compared to your last dedicate vid on 3rds? Apologize for perhaps reading too much into it.... Having a tough time being consistent with this shot 😊
@thatpickleballguy
@thatpickleballguy 11 месяцев назад
it depends on where the ball is for me. I do occasionally hit a more side swing if Im playing the left side and the ball is in the middle of the court and I have to read a bit more. Anything in front of my body, i'm doing a lifting motion as much as possible!

I feel that instead of doing a volley after a successful third shot drop that your partner should try and smash it instead. Otherwise, how do you know if the third shot drop was good and thus, if it isn't, you learn how to adjust.
@thatpickleballguy
@thatpickleballguy 11 месяцев назад
Sure, for one ball, that's good feedback. Im just suggesting that your partner doesnt hit heavy topspin so you can receive the most realistic ball that you'd get on actual return before you hit the 3rd shot drop.
