How to Train your Dog to STOP BARKING!

The parts of the guideare divided: part i know your dog part ii the seven commands part iii cures for 7 behavior problems. Each chapter presents a topic, a dog's story, and a "what to do". It was written simply and you can jump from chapter to chapter to review anything as needed.

The Guide elaborates on the techniques used on the show. The examples given in the ru-vid.comUgkxECnmSvBSv_NGWx4_ChD73pF3NYZwI2F3 are helpful and some of the techniques suggested very useful. One such technique/tool suggested was the lure stick to encourage a small dog to keep up with the heel command. I have a small dog who lags behind smelling any and everything and find it hard to keep bending over while walking to his level. The lure stick is great also for another dogs focus and sprinting at anything that catches her eye. The stories about different dogs, their different temperaments, have been helpful, especially Lulu's: After reading about Lulu's challenges I felt relief concerning one of my rescues that I have had for 10 years. Over many years I have checked out many training books from the library, watched different shows, DVDS, bought training books, taken lessons and this book is the best by far! Kindness, patience and perseverance works.

I love seeing the "failing" ( I don't really know what to call it- I know it's not a failure) but to see how you handle it is so helpful and great cause it's real! Dog training isn't always pretty and that's likely to happen with us amateurs. Editing that out wouldn't have been helpful.

I like how realistic these videos are. Some videos just show the first step and then a well-trained dog responding well to it. This dog represents a more of how the majority of dogs would react.

Arlen has the cutest face. I'd love to see more videos with her. :) I always enjoy the videos on unwanted barking. I live with a dog that goes crazy about barking. He will continue to bark until the person is inside the house and petting him. Once they pet him, he'll usually stop. Teaching him to calm down is going to be a long process, especially since he's about three years old and has never been taught anything about barking.

I found this video very helpful. I appreciate these videos where you are helping others to correct their dogs and bad dog behaviors that may have been established for a long period of time. One thing I don’t see are videos where you may be correcting multiple dogs at the same time. I have 5 dogs and when one starts barking they are start barking and I have a hard time getting them corralled.

Hi Zak. Your videos are super useful and I have trained my dog watching them. Off late she have started barking at strangers while she is in play session in park. She was not doing it earlier. She also have started to bark when someone from family rings doorbell. These are only recent behaviour. She is almost 2 years now

Thank you for posting this. This is one thing that really gets our dog going and it's so frustrating(he's a Great Dane so he also scares people with his energy level when they first knock) so of course everyone has an opinion on it. I don't want to shock my dog or beat him, just reinforce good behaviors and you don't need to be rough to do it!

hey. I love you training methods and they work really well for my almost 4 month old boarder collie (in photo). he's such a good pup and already knows the basics to a T and a few random ones to keep his mind moving like roll over. a little more difficult in a distracted area but he is still young. anyways. My situation is a little annoying. we live on a dairy farm which is fine but he seems to clean out our garage of the gumboots and his blankets when he's at home chilling after a big morning on the farm or when me and my partner have to milk and he wonders off home (has free range of farm but has never strayed from home). He has his little run that he lives in at night time there against the wall and hes happy to sleep in there during the day even. He has heaps of toys. squeekie. couple of tugs. balls. and bones and sticks he's randomly brought home from his adventures. but he still loves to take out all the gumboots to the lawn. a few chew marks but he doesn't seem to really play with them. I've put Vicks (fixes everything) around the edges and that worked. for a couple of days at a time and now we are just wasting it lol. any tips on why he does this? I was wondering if it was a "this is my space mum and dad" but once he started taking his blankets out (which he sleeps on in his house) I stopped thinking it. it is summer in NZ but it hasn't been that hot. thank you to anyone who knows how to help.

Your videos really helped train my puppy a lot. I got him when he was 2 months old. His name is Casper and he is an American Eskimo. He is 3 months old now and can properly do sit, lay down, stay, shake, high five flawlessly most of the time. And he doesn't even need a reward for it, most of the time I just praise him and that's just enough for him. Also, he knows how to let go when we are playing fetch, still struggling a bit with him not letting go at once but he is still young, we have a long way to go XD Right now I am training him to stop pulling on the leash. The first week of training him was kinda frustrating for me but then I started watching your videos, and everything started going so smoothly! Thanks a lot for helping me out

I wish more of these online trainers would talk about multidog households, though, it's SO HARD to train in a multidog household. The whole time I'm working with one, the others are barking in the room, or interrupting us, and distracting the dog that's being trained. It seems almost impossible to do.

Seeing this video inspired me to tackle my own dog's barking problem. He is fearful of new people coming into the home and barks when they enter even without knocking. I started by having the door wide open and sitting with my dog and banging on the door. He barked away even though he could see no one was there except me knocking on the door. We got that under control and are now working to approach the door calmly from different rooms without barking. I'm concerned that when we add strangers it will set him back. We will also have to work together to generalize to any house he feels at home in. We have our work cut out for us.

Hi Zak, thank you for your videos, it’s great to have guidances and pointers. Can you please make a video on dog that barks for demands? I am an office worker, My 13weeks Yorkshire has to be at home while I am at work. I provided him lots of food like tendon, jerky, greenies to chew on , turned on radio of people having conversation, toys etc to make sure he is not bored. I trained some basics command before I go to work, played with him a little. Got home, ran around the yard with him, trained him again, and as I tried to do some dishes, he started barking at me. Zak, please help to make videos to counter this. Thank you in advance.

Hi Zak. I foster at a rescue and get a lot of dogs 1-2 years who need everything from house trying, proper playing and socialization . What advice do you have on how to train them? I watch all of you videos but are these method applicable to all ages or mostly puppies?

I used the Garmin Delta Sport XC with my Pomeranian and he barely barks when wearing the collar (went from barking hundreds of times a day to almost nothing). On rare occasion I make the Garmin device beep. I made it vibrate twice and never used that setting again. I never used the shocking / zapping feature. A simple low volume beep usually stops my dog from barking.
