regarding drago dying i always assumed he drowned bcs they couldn’t kill him brutally on screen 😭 since the alpha dragon just went underwater and Berk is an island, i imagine even if he survived the fall he would’ve drowned eventually lol

23:57 dragon “trained” his bewilder beast ever since it was born. Beating it and cutting it with that scepter/stick thing he waves around. So even tho it’s much bigger than drago rn it’s still scared of feeling that pain again.

Dude, you just have to watch a TV series about dragons, not only because of the awesome connection with the second part and the explanation of some things (like Stoick's dragon and Hiccup's sword) but also because of the plot in principle. And if you like watching Astrid and Hiccup's relationship develop (since when have they been engaged, for example) then you just won’t be able to stop watching this series))))

Criminally underrated RU-vidr. I sometimes ovoid the smaller creators because their kinda quiet and don't have much confidence, ok camera. But you are very confident and act as if you have hundreds of thousands of subscribers. Love your content❤

Also if you watch how to train your dragon race to the edge it grows the friends story and characters a lot more. It's definitely a kids show but it's very loveable and has lots of great moments. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Actually, Drago was meant to survive for a twist in an unreleased comic that plays after the second movie (it was confirmed by the author) and yes that would've been canon

Fun fact: your sense of valka potentially being a villain was spot on. In the original draft of the movie, drago would have been the third movie’s villain and he would only be set up in this one, with valka being the threat. She would have been unable to believe that berk could really change so when dragos fleet attacked, thinking stoic led them there and was working with him, she would have turned against him. The final battle on berk would have been against HER bewilderbeast and it would have ended with her death. The writers were unsatisfied with it though for a number of reasons so they change the story to make Drago the second movie’s villain with his own bewilderbeast, and for stoic to die instead of valka. This left dragos role to be filled by someone new in the third movie as well.

I think there was a draft story where the mother was supposedly the main villain. But they scrapped it and used drago.

24:04 as @isuapig6705 said Drago found and attacked his bewilder beast since it was a hatchling and it became scared of him and his spear but if you read the book you will also find out that in berk they did what drago did until hiccup showed them another way by talking to dragons in their tongue

1. Great reviews you really pickup on everything and are halirous 2. Yes this is the best animated trilogy! Top three for me of all trilogy’s. 3. 2:11 yes you need to get a Hiccup helmet. 4. 26:28 You:😢 Everyone: Right there with you. 😢 4. I think someone else said this but the director did have a first draft of Valka being the baddie but they changed it. 5. Id recommend kung fu panda. I love the first 2 movies personally. And just like httyd, the second is better in many ways. But I don't care too much for the third movie, it has some really great moments, but compared to the second movie, It felt like it went too much in another direction. But I'd say it's still worth watching. And I haven't seen the fourth, yet.

In the whole HTTYD franchise, Stoic being killed off is the only complaint. It reeks of executive meddling. Like someone had to die because that’s how you write movies. As you said, things were going too happy. It’s a BS writing Crutch. No purpose for his death other than to sew discourse between Toothless and Hiccup, a conflict that was resolved like 10 min later. It can be argued that Hiccup would never embrace full leadership while his Dad was there to cast his shadow. Well guess what? The dead cast the largest shadow of all! Cheap stupid BS writing decision. Otherwise this movie is fantastic!

After watching the 3rd movie I’ll have to disagree. Stoics death taught Hiccup a lesson, some people can’t be reasoned with. He spends most of the movie wanting to try and talk to Drago, even with everyone telling him it won’t work, he sticks to that mentality. A mentality that inadvertently costs him his father. It’s not Hiccups fault but he learns from it and his character grows as a result. To the point that in HTTYD 3 the topic of talking things over with Grimmel doesn’t even come up. And Hiccup decides to trap/take him out instead of risking lives by talking to him. But When that doesn’t work they leave the island to avoid open war. But he knows the whole “show how great dragons are” plan won’t always work. It shows real character growth instead of resetting him between movies. Something I really appreciated.
