Na man...you made this too simple. No video introduction? No fancy graphics? No corny jokes? And where's your nonsense rambling? You're a proper RU-vidr, thanks, subscribed.
The cable has a small arrow on both plugs. It is necessary to plug the cable into the phone with the arrow facing up, meaning being on the same plane as the screen. If the arrow is pointing at the backside of your phone, the ssd won't show up. On the side of the ssd, the cable orientation does not matter.
The arrow is for the USB-A adapter it comes with to line up with the Type-C cable. I made a review pointing it out when I unboxed the SSD on my channel, and I just made a video showing how to transfer files from phone to SSD
I thought it might be worth mentioning outside of a chat reply... Its a power supply issue. I verified by connecting a battery pack using a splitter. Plugged both portable charger and scan disk 1 TB into the USBC Splitter then plugged the outgoing (single end cable) into my phone (Note 10+). It worked. Then I tested it on a Galaxy S22 Ultra. Same. Hard drive shows in My Files when connected with additional power otherwise it says it can connect and fails. It is possible the smaller disk (500 GB) requires less power therefore can run on the Android devices.
Awesome video! You inspired me to make my own video since some people were saying the steps have changed. Great walk through and your audio is on point
This doesn't work anymore. When you select "Move" it does not give the option of where to move it other than 'Here'. If you choose 'Here' it says 'Destination same as source'
@@WasupMr01 it's a bit trickier but possible. I'm uploading the SSD review to my channel in the next hour, and I'll try to have the new way to move files within the next week like this video shows
@ItsNabeel - I just purchased a new sandisk extreme portable ssd and when I select the photos I want to move, I only see "move here" and then nothing. Help! ;p
did you format to exFAT? If so, look for a notification when you plug the SSD into phone, click that and that made the SSD appear in my phones file manager. Or try different cables if that doesn't work, that's what I would try.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you SO much for this!!! I had this SSD for some time & couldn't recall how to transfer... Then I watched your video & VIOLA!! Opening "My Files" was the step I was missing!! LOL. Thanks!! 👍🏻🥰👍🏻 I have saved this video, in case I forget, again. 😉🤣
This won’t work with an iPhone because of the limitations of the lightening connector. It will work with the newer iPads with USB C connectors and you do not need to reformat the drive if it’s a Samsung T5 or T7.
Thank you. Day but I didn't know if I could if I could transfer photos from the phone directly to the device. Thank you for your explanation everything was very clear.
I dont think it is possible prior to iPhone 13. Even then, it's a bit of a hassle. I may be wrong, maybe there is a solution out there but I dont think so.
I watched this video a couple of times and when I click on a picture then go to hit the the dots my dots are at the bottom not the top but it doesn't give me the options that your screen does. I have a S20 ultra. Can you help me?
I have a Samsung Note 8. When I click the three button my only choice is to move to a secure folder. There is no move to options for USB storage 1. HELP please
I am trying to move all my pics from galaxy s22 ultra to my SanDisk ssd. I use the cable that came with the ssd, but when I connect to the phone nothing happens. But when I connect it with my charging cable, now it wants to show up.
Not showing my SSD as an option to move into. It does show up, but doesn't give the option of moving things into it. I went under the "move to" and "copy to". It only shows internal drive. When I look at sources in the app, it did show the Sandisk SSD. Any thoughts?
when you plug the SSD into your phone, check your notifications for something regarding your SSD. Click that. For me, that's what made the SSD appear as an option other than the internal storage. Try different cables would be my next step if that doesnt work.
I know it's been 4 years, but going to ask anyway. Formatted the drive on the laptop, but when I try the drive using the phone I get a note on my phone - Unsupported SandDiskUSB drive. Would you like to format the disk. Both connections are USB C from SanDisk to Samsung. If I click on the phone to format the drive it hits 20% and never moves off that figure. Icon for the SanDisk doesn't show up in the My Files of my Sansung A53 5G phone. Any suggestions?
Hi there, Hope you could help. I used iPhone with camera adapter to transfer file . I got error message saying “Cabot use accessory this accessory requires too much power. I did plug both devices on the main socket using adapter . How to solve this please? Thank you.
Thanks Nabeel. I tried to follow this for S24 Ultra (Samsung) but didn’t get the move option which brings different storage options such as SSD. Have you come across anything like this?
Nate 10+ can't Handel power draw created by transferring files at high speed. Copies a few and disconnects. My nvme Drew's 2.5a max current. Definitely need nvme m.2 with less than 1.5a max current to copy at high speed on my phone or just use external USB powerd hub.
Thanks for the info! I have a question about reformating the San disk. If I format it so I can plug it straight into my phone will I still be able to use it with my laptop? I want to get one to use for gaming so I can switch between my laptop and desk top and would also like to be able to plug straight into my phone to transfer files.
@@ItsNabeel Thanks for the response, I was wondering more specifically about the formatting. In the video you show how to format the drive to work with android so you can plug it straight into your phone without using an adapter. I'm wondering if I do that if It will still work the same with my laptop?
Having done the formatting, went through all the way to selecting photos for transferring and selecting 'move to' - that's when it confused me as it didn't give any other storage choice apart from 'internal storage'. What have I done wrong?
Hello, the transferred pictures, do they have original date on them when the picture was taken or the date of the transfer.... its been an issue for me since i have lots to move from previous years
I can't seem to find an adapter. My iPhone uses lightning connector. SO I would need a lightning to USB-C adapter but that also supports data transfer.
I'm looking to use scan disk model SDSSDE30 1T00 G25 to download my old files from my dell dimensions 4500S running windows XP. I'm not seeing anything that would help me in the user guide. any help would be greatly appreciated.
Mine won't work on any android phones. Even though I followed your instructions in your previous video. I am getting an error that says "Unsupported SanDisk USBB drive" and even if I formatted it countless times.
Nabeel, I followed you step-by-step up until 2:26. The 3 buttons in the upper right side displayed on your phone does not appear on mine. Instead, in the lower left side it says "Move" with a little folder icon above it. I selected "All." When I press the "Move" icon, I see the first of all of my videos seemingly loaded to move, but there is no place to move them to. The button/icon on the right side is gray and says "Cancel." The button/icon to the right of the Cancel button/icon is light gray and says "Move here' except that I can't move it there. This same thing happens when I try to move my pictures. When I do this with my pictures, the "Move here" button/icon is dark gray indicating that I can move my pictures. But when I attempt to move them, I get a notice that says I'm moving the pictures to the location it is already in! Can you help me figure out how to move them to the SSD disk? Thank you!
no matter what I do I cannot get me sandisk hard drive to connect with my iphone. When I go to files it does not show up. My hards drive is formatted to exfat. Please help what am I doing wrong.
One question please- so are you able to transfer live photos from your Android device to san disk and then later on view them as live pictures only on phone?
Hi did as you say to transfer photos & video to sandisk ssd. I realise now that I moved them all. As I wanted to keep them on phone and gave a back up guess I should have selected copy and not move. Do you have a video on how to transfer from ssd back to phone please??
j9cop it's basically the same process in reverse. Hook your SanDisk back into your phone and open MyFiles on your phone. You should see the SanDisk under USB Storage 1. Click on it and your files from the SanDisk will be there. Press and hold one of the files you want to copy back to your phone. This will select that file. Then select the other files you want to copy until they all have check marks next to them. Then click Copy. Finally, hit the back arrow to go back to the list of drives on My Files. Select wherever you want them to be copied (i.e. Images, Videos, etc.) and click Copy Here. That should do it.
I was wondering about the power supply issue because I was able to plug the device into my Samsung A51. However, I have not yet tried to transfer any files with it. It's amazing that I can find no info on this. However, it seems that all I would need is a cheap adapter to plug in both the drive and the external power source. [And for a bit of context, I am hoping to be able to move 20-50 mp3 files into the music folder on the SD card on my phone. It seemed easier to do it this way than to try to download them from OneDrive or GoogleDrive]. This is what I got from the best buy site: about the 2TB version "current required to power this portable SSD device is approximately 1.1 amps. This SSD should work with most higher-end mobile phones that do provide sufficient power. However, we would suggest you check the same with your host device manufacturer." [However no info on where to find that info].
The main reason why I can't get myself to leave Android...The ability to plug in portable USB devices to easily transfer files. I tried iPhone for about a year and regretted it after about 3 months. Practically the only way to get full sized pictures off the phone was to upload to the cloud (iCloud specifically) and download onto the computer.
thatis insane. The only Apple product I ever bought was over a decade ago, an iPod nano. I rremember being baffled you could only upload music onto it through iTunes, couldnt simply use Windows File Explorer. So irritating. Cant believe it still works like this.
Can you tell us how to transfer photos from the SSD back to the android? I have Samsung S21 ultra and backed up a whole bunch of videos and pics to an SSD when my internal memory filled up. But when I tried to restore the pics to the phone, it wouldn't allow me to do that. I can see them but I can't move them back to the phone. Also I tried toove it to my Mac Mini but Mac wants to reformat the drive because it wasn't saved on an Apple device. Help would be greatly appreciated!
Hi It's Nabeel! i have a question for you I do following your tutorial after watch your video. Why my sandisk extreme SSD portable 1T can't connect to my mobile phone (Google Pixel 3) but when i just it on my tab (Samsung Galaxy A with S pen) it work normally do you have a idea? thanks
Super great, easy to understand video!!! thanks a lot. My iphone have 9693 videos in it. I need to transfer around 250GB of videos to my hardrive. Will it works as well? can you make a video showing how to transfer large GB to hardrive please.
Please answer me I've looked everywhere and foundno answer... just bought this but 2tb ssd and I did what you did in your video and It works perfectly on my laptop and my Samsung moblie but it doesn't work on my Samsung galaxy tablet s6....do you have any suggestions?
Hi Nabeel, I just purchased the SanDisk and I have a Galaxy Note 9. When I first plugged it in it came up as a usb. It then placed my files into a secure file...which I didn’t want so in the end had to uninstall the secure file. Then my phone wouldn’t recognise the SanDisk. So I logged into the usb connections on my phone and it finally uploaded my phone images. However, I have about 7000 images and documents which when I opened them up, SanDisk had them written as for the example .pdf _ and so I could not open anything when I plugged the ssd into my Mac computer. I have to retype each image with the cited.pdf or.jpg etc... why did this happen and how can I stop this in the future.....? Thanks for your help
Did you reformat the SanDisk to exfat like I showed in my other video? Also, when you go to My Files on your phone and select your images to transfer, it should give you the option to move them to a specific folder on your SanDisk or just the top level file. Did you get that option?
Yes I changed it to exact no problem there. And I did create a file on the sandisk for the images from the phone (also now deleted) but it went to secure folder. I have all the things now on my sandisk...only I have to manually change the .prefix to enable them
My Motorola '22 has no "my files" just files & files by Google both dead zones. Connected devices shows only "powered by connected device" Not likely .
Can you make separate folders for specific pics on it? Like for example i raise dogs so I have tons of pics of each of my dogs. I'd like to make them each their own folder. Possible?
Can you set the SSD as the default memory storage e.g. if you are taking pictures or recording videos, for them to directly be stored on the ssd? Thanks in advance.
Hello mate. Thanks for this video. I've a Samsung galaxy s10 plus and a crucial ssd 1T. I've tried yesterday to connect the ssd to my phone but my phone didn't read the ssd. I think it doesn't work with 1TB isn't it?
