Sometimes it's best to cut the whole painting apart! Don't worry, I'll show you how to put the art together before the video ends :) Creating 4 mixed media paintings from a 9"x12" piece of mixed media paper.

You have made me a braver artist! I am no longer hesitant to cut works into grids. I'm actually pleasantly surprised when I do and the work becomes 4 better parts than as one. And the pressure goes away of trying to hold on to something that has thousands possibilities. Thank you for sharing the process and path of creating out whats in us .. those impulses .. It's easy to get too focused and get stuck .

Cool transformation - I often end up with pieces that are more "grungy" than I intended 😂 and this is a good example of a way to work over them. Thanks!

Would be great if at the end when you show the finished pieces you first show the piece where it started - before you cut it down to 4 pieces. Thanks.

They make a great series. You could mount all 4 together on a cradled wood panel.

As usual - STUNNING! Perfect example of going back to something previously created and working through it. Thanks for sharing how you used the blending stump - I really liked the effect it created. Color choices of pastels - perfect! I particularly liked the bronze addition as it was subtle but somehow grounded the blue and the textured areas. ♥♥♥

Thanks for sharing this video. How would you seal them? I love oil pastel but am nervous about sealing them afterwards. ( I use acrylics mostly like in paint pours).

I’m trying to think back and I don’t know that I’ve ever sealed oil pastel work. Hmm. You could potentially seal it with cold wax, but I’d suggest reading up on it before trying it out. Or a spray on varnish (though i don’t know that it would actually “seal” it.
