How to Transition Houseplant Propagations - Moss to Soil/Greenhouse to Plant Shelf

As you know, I love to propagate my houseplants, especially now when prices are so high that I don't even look anymore.
I've been experimenting a lot with different ways to propagate the indoor plants that I love and focusing on growing my houseplant collection to share with others and trade for other varieties that I don't already have. This has been so much fun and I am having a great time doing it!
I've been asked a lot lately about what I do when my houseplant propagations are ready to be transfered from moss to soil and how do we know when to do it. I hope this video answers some of those questions for you about how I do it. This is by no means the ONLY way to do this and I myself deviate from this method occasionally, but this has been a foolproof way to make sure the houseplants I propagate transition well and live their best life!
Please leave any questions down in the comments, as I'm sure there were things I missed.

Depends on the roots. Once it has a decent root system, I'd transition it to less humidity, and just make sure to water it a smidgen more often until it acclimated. Usually a couple of weeks.

Thanks love!! Honestly, the pot type really doesn't make a difference. It's more about knowing what kind of waterer you are. If you plant in terra cotta, you'll need to water more often, whereas with ceramic or plastic, you don't need to water as much.

How do you keep mold from growing in your sphagnum when in such a warm, humid environment in the bag? Is that ever a problem? When rooting, do you place the bag away from light or closer to light? Thank you. 🌱
@PlantsPotsWhatNots
@PlantsPotsWhatNots 3 года назад
I don't seem to have an issue actually. I think they key is to open the bags once a week and leave them for about a half hour or so to let some air circulate. I have my propagations under a grow light. Because they are developing roots, they need as much energy as they can get, within reason of course. You don't want them in crazy high light or they will burn.

Thank you love! 🥰 It's absolutely not doomed. You just need to be a little extra careful not to let the moss dry out. Oh, and also, because it's not in soil, you'll need to make sure to give it fertilizer, as moss doesn't have any nutritional value. :)

Hey Hun. The pots are linked in the description under planters and decor. I think I refered to them as 100 Plastic Nursery Pots. Let me know if the link doesn't work. As far as the superthrive, it depends on if I'm using my little squeeze bottle or my watering can. A little goes a long way so you only need a few drops.
