I is so liberating to own our natural hair color. It is the best choice I’ve ever made. When people tell me you should tint your hair. I answer why. I love my silvers. I respect people doing whatever with their hair, but I want to see my natural hair. I had not seen it in decades, now I’m loving it. I love your hair color, texture, and style.

As a professional hairstylist< And someone who also died their hair for 15 plus years and had to go though the same grow out process (but from blonde)I want to say it looks great. Here’s a tip: do not put the blow dryer so close to your hair. There is a metal grate on the end of the nozzle that heats up and when to close to the hair it will cringe your hair. If your blow dryer came it’s a plastic nozzle attachment ( a concentrator) definitely use that if you are going to get that close to your hair.

I saw a model in a catalog years ago with really long spirals in her hair and COMPLETELY silver. I thought that was the most beautiful hair I had ever seen. I quit dyeing my hair and started growing it out. Looks great, if I do say so myself.

I agree with you! I had been dying my hair for like 11 years, because I was convinced that I would look ugly if I didn't. My first hairdresser told me so, and I kept believing it. I finally let my hair grow! And I love it! Hate when hairdressers are telling me how I would look great in non-natural hair.

Love your hair! Thank you for all the transitional haircuts very helpful! I’m only 3 and half months into going gray! I too have thick and curly hair. I’ve decided to cut my hair shorter so as to get a jump start on this journey! It’s been very hard letting go of getting my hair colored every 3 to 4 weeks! However I’m totally done with the whole process not to mention the expense! So looking forward to seeing the end result!

Just always remind yourself that getting old is far better than dying young. I'm now 50 and had cancer aged 34 when my kids were still young (youngest was just 2 years old). Every day is a blessing and I'm so grateful to have reached 50! I just hope I get to 70 and beyond! Life doesn't end just because you age, it gets better and you have the time to enjoy more experiences. Reaching 50 is fantastic...so don't worry about getting old...its actually a lot of fun.

I’m scared of growing old. I think I’m scared of looking old, lol! I have pretty great genes. I was just getting tired of coloring with Demi’s, not getting all the grays. I was tired of it damaging my hair, leaving sometimes a film on my hair. I’ve been graying since 19, thanks mom and dad. I just said let me see how it looks if I don’t color it for 2 months. It actually looks very nice. I do have the stripe down the middle. I also HATE seeing the line of demarcation. I will say I never permanently colored my hair. So it’s a light yellow since I’ve been washing it. I’m 43 and I’m ready to not make my hair a chore. Your video and hair are beautiful.

I’ve been driving my hairdresser crazy because I keep tweaking my colour. I went from dark brown to bright copper to redder, to strawberry blonde. I’ve realised that no matter how I love the copper/strawberry, I only get a week and a half before it is rooty and I’m fighting to hide it rather than wearing the style I want. So, in 2 weeks she’ll be crazy again because I’m telling her the new plan.... I am not growing it out the brave way, however. I’m going to have her root match all over and be an instant silver fox. After that, the grow out won’t show. I’ve tried short hair and it’s baaaaad on me. My hair is quite white around my face and top of my head, and salt & pepper in the back. I’m really excited to play with the white/silver/pewter shades in an updo. So much better than trying to hide roots 3.5 weeks out of 5!

My hair is very similar to yours...very curly and the same length. I discovered the Revlon Volumizer hair dryer and it is amazing for straightening. It takes me about 9-10 minutes to go from damp to shiny straight...no flat iron needed. You should try it. It grips curly hair really well for the needed traction to straighten while drying. I use it on dry hair for touch up's too.

Loved seeing your silver hair grow out journey and all the cute short cuts and styles! I’m almost 7 months in growing my silver out. I’m going to have some really cool streaking pattern, so I’m excited! But it’s at a very awkward stage with so much old dye left and new growth at 3.5 inches. I haven’t done the big chop yet; my hair is below my shoulder blades. I’m loving my natural color, but afraid of the short hair step. Who knows, I might like it! 🤷‍♀️

My natural hair is white. I don't have salt and pepper so I decided to go white with dark gray low lights. I had been dying my hair black with box color. After two bleaches, now it's a Carmel with blonde highlights and she put some light brown toner on the orangey red. Anyway, I love this color I have now. Last night I warmed up coconut oil and mixed in some Moroccan oil and slept in it. After I got all the oil out I poured apple cider vinegar and equal part of water, then poured it over my hair as a final rinse. Omg! My hair was so much softer. I got the idea from Sharon Taylor here on RU-vid. It may be called Sharon Lee, sshe's changed her channel name a few times. She has gray hair. She has the prettiest gray hair I've ever seen. Love your channel, I'm also Jennifer!

My hair is almost identical to yours, except for some hair loss in the front due to medical issues. I use a Dyson hairdryer as it can make my hair bone dry and straight in 5 minutes. Or, I use the diffuser to keep my curls. It was very expensive but I got it for a recent 'special' birthday (60.) I now feel encouraged to embrace my grey hair. My hairdresser will weep as I pay close to £100 a visit for the upkeep of my highlights!

Tshirts are great for naturally curly hair. It doesn't cause frizz like towels do. I scrunch out the excess water in the shower, apply curly hair product and then drape the tshirt over my shoulders while I dress before drying with a diffuser. I don't have silver hair yet but seriously considering ditching the dye. I am worried my hair will be very dry once I transition but maybe it will be healthier without chemicals.

I started last year. I still have alot of growth before mine is all natural again, as I had my hair colored to blend so as it grows out it wouldnt be as drastic looking! No more paying $90-$100 to get my hair color treated! Silver / graying hair has totally different structure and is more brittle, so like you I try not to use heat and also use a purple shampoo for gray/ blonde hair! I LOVE Biosilk shampoo and conditioner, it cleanses my hair without stripping it and leaves it very shiny and healthy looking! I use my hubby’s fructis leave in conditioner also! On day two, I use the biosilk silkening to keep the shine and frizzies at bay( Cannot wash my hair daily, scalp is way too dry for that!) I usually dont detect oils on my scalp before 3-4 days! So in winter months I dont shampoo as often as summer months! Thanks for sharing! Your hair is beautiful, Naturally!😊

Ever thought of getting your hair straightened with a box perm solution that you can do yourselfIt. This will rid of the frizz, or a simpler hairdo. Check how they do it online and you be so amazed how simpler the hairstyle will become. It has to be touched up after 6 months. It looks like freedom rings to me. I can't wait to put it into my hair for freedom from the frizz.

Why work so hard in getting your hair straight Jennifer when curly looks so much better and voluminous. Good choice going gray. It looks great on you!

I decided to let mine grow out which I really liked. I have three different shades from white silver around my face to a darker grey with a little brown in it and another shade of grey in between the light and dark. I was always being asked if I colored it myself. No color, just natural, and I really liked it. Except, it made me feel a lot older. I just turned 52 four days ago but felt much older with the grey, so ultimately I went back to blond, but I love the first hairstyle you showed. Super cute and looked great on you.

Gorgeous hair! Now, I'm inspired! I have colored since my 30's, now 69. My hair is thick, and naturally wavy. So I mostly use the curly girl methid. I can handle the co wash, gel and plop techniques. But due to severe shoulder arthritis, I have problems using a flat iron or curling iron. Lately, I have been looking at wigs. Just not sure yet.

I’m 10 months in growing out colour and have an unattractive (quite wide now) badger stripe and the rest is a yucky faded dyed red. I was naturally a mousy blonde but dyed red for years but it got to be every 3 weeks to colour and, nope, not doing it. In all honesty, it probably will make me look older - or not older but my age - but I’d rather look good for my age than try to look younger. Just my preference to let it grow out.

Have you tried the vitamin C treatment? I did it everyday for a week and used lots of conditioner. It really did take lots of the old dye out!

I have had my hair change after menopause, even after 10 years of menopause (I changed at age 47, and am 60 now.) I have decided to go grey for almost 3 years now, all the old growth is gone. (I did the big chop). Last year, when trying to start to grow it out after the chop, I started losing what hair I had left, it was so bad my husband had to roto-root the tub and sink! I understood this to be PCOS, which is basically male pattern baldness in women. I got a DMT blocking cream I now put in my hair after I wash/condition, and it started growing out wispies alongside my widow's peak and frame of the face where I lost most of my hair and it showed. In January of this year, it started growing back in earnest, and voila! By April/May I had curly hair where it was once bone-straight, all of my life. No one in my family had that happen to them, so I was stymied. The hair is strong, but not as thick as it was in my 20's and 30's, I don't think that it will ever be that thick again. Of course, I don't have the hormones running through me at that stage right now either! So, it is what it is. Now, I had to study the curly girl method, and OMG! When watching you style your hair, and NOT using a diffuser you are heat damaging your curl pattern as it is growing out. DO NOT DO THAT...it takes MONTHS for you to repair things at this stage now. It's not like it bounces back like when we are younger. BE CAREFUL!!!! Again, change your mousse to one that is a little bit nicer, no parabens, no sulfates, etc. It will do your hair lots of good. Get rid of that mousse and at least use the Garnier line if you have to use drug store stuff. (use the curly hair line.) That stuff is poison on your hair and it's curl pattern. I have been very diligent about that and it's been a real trip going from light brown/caramel blonde hair to sterling salt n pepper hair with curl! I had to learn both grey AND Curly at once! Please protect your curl pattern and it will in turn give you a great curl that gets stronger with age. Also ditch that towel and get yourself a microfiber towel...less static on your hair/less frizz producing. Good luck to you and thanks for this video!

@@laurenaug765 I bought mine at Walmart in the ethnic section (African American hair). I live in Chicago, and this store was nearby a black area, so they had a lot of good products there for Curly/Wavy hair. The company's name is Organic Hair Energizer and it was their Organic Hair growth booster. Here's the Amazon Link: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DQVJGH8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 If RU-vid strips the link just use the 2 names I mentioned beforehand. Thanks.

I'm a ten year Wen girl. You're lucky because your hair still has a decent amount of color in it! Mine's mostly VERY platinum and although I get alot of compliments, I don't like my natural color. Yes, I used to color it too but hair dye destroyed my hair, it chewed it to pieces. I stopped coloring years ago and began using Wen. I also did like you, I got it cut. It was down to my waist but a mess. I'm not saying yours was, yours looked lovely. Anyway, I let all the dye come out and I cut it in a pixie. Now it's shoulder length. The Wen strengthened my hair. My hair has rich shine and dimension and bounce. I have salon quality hair every day and I simply blow dry for 15 minutes with warm to cool air and I don't even comb when through. Don't need to. Mine does not have a yellowish hue and I wish it did. I do have some dark silver in the underneath part and it looks like I highlighted it that way. I'm always asked if I color treat. Wen, well, Chaz Dean makes Bella Spirit Indigo. It's a purple Wen. I use it, it's wonderful, NO dye. It's not permanent. I simply cleanse with it and it makes my platinum toned down to a champagne/platinum color. If I don't use it every day it just reverts back. Without Wen I would not have the great hair that I do. He also makes Nourishing Body Treatment. I get my Wen on QVC. I love it! Anyway, your hair looks lovely both ways, with color treatment and without! Oh, Wen Indigo won't stain. I see alot of people flat iron. I don't have to. I use Ibiza brushes. They have been dubbed, "The bouncy brush" because when you use them, the hair comes out really bouncy. I think They're made in Spain. My ends are as soft, shiny and supple as my roots. My hair is quite satisfactory. I just don't like the platinum because I'm not porcelain. I'm more olive complected. The picture of you with the bob, my hair looks like that only you have more color left in yours. I had mine cut into layers for that piece-y look which I love. It's growing out of that now. I noticed that my platinum hair is more coarse and different from the ones that still have the last vestiges of color. Mine's VERY oily too. I cleanse every day. Oh well, thank you for listening to my lamenting about my hair. XXOO Thank you for the video, I enjoyed it!

if u used a little oil in your hair before bed and put something on it like a silk scarf or cap while u slept your hair would lay a lot smoother. it will give u the flat ironed look.
