This was super helpful Alex. I would be traveling to Spain and have a prescribed set of Pills by my Doctor but they are not in the Original container. Instead my doctor has split them into multiple Plastic sachets for Fever/Diarrhoea/Allergy with a Prescribed Medication along with a handwritten note on them. Would this suffice any security checks at Spain?
@AlexgoesCoconuts

Yes that is good enough. You should have no problem traveling with those. Thanks for watching and have a great trip!

Number 1 tip should be check the websites of the countries you will be traveling to. They may require preapproval to bring your drug/cpap, etc…into their country (this takes weeks to get)and there may be a limit to amount of medication…in spite of what this lady says. In some countries you cannot bring some drugs AT ALL so you may not be able to go there. Plus some OTC meds not allowed. Number 2 tip: put meds you need in your primary carry on and not the suitcase carry on. In case they run out of room and force you to check it.

Hi Alex, definitely helpful video, my question is about over the counter medicines like Paracetamol or Meclizine HCL (for motion/travel sickness) are these permissible or even these needs doctor notes?
@AlexgoesCoconuts
@AlexgoesCoconuts Год назад
No you do not need a doctors note for over the counter meds. Just make sure if traveling to a different country, make sure these meds are legal in that country to avoid any problems.

Is medication weight restricted? I have a lot of medication and it takes up lots of weight in my carry on. I will have a very limited amount of things for carry on because of this.. 🤦‍♀️ SO although it is allowed on I’m not sure what weight I’m allowed to bring.
@AlexgoesCoconuts

Here is the recommendations according to the Government website. This should help answer all your questions: The limit of two carry-on bags does not apply to medical supplies, equipment and mobility aids. Pack all medications in your carry-on baggage in their original, labelled containers to facilitate airport security and customs screening. Prescription medication is exempted from the liquid restrictions but must be presented to the screening officer separately from your carry-on baggage. Do not try to save luggage space by combining medications into a single container. Use the Family/Special Needs security line. Screening officers at these lines are trained to offer additional assistance. Pack an extra supply of medication in case you are away for longer than expected. Carry a copy of the original prescription and ensure that both the generic and trade names of the medication are included in case of loss or theft. A doctor's note describing why you are taking the medication is also recommended. If you are carrying any unusual medication, check that it is legal and readily available in the country you intend to visit. Contact the foreign government office of the country you plan to visit before departing to make sure the medical supplies you intend to bring are allowed into the country. Consult what you can bring on a plane to determine what you can and cannot pack in your carry-on luggage. Hope that helps.

Hello i am soon travelling to a country for studies i have seizure problem so i have to take medicine everyday so is it any special need of prescription or anything like that to take my pills with me ?
@AlexgoesCoconuts
@AlexgoesCoconuts 9 месяцев назад
I am not sure I am the best qualified to answer this but here are some tips for traveling with seizures: www.everydayhealth.com/epilepsy/11-steps-for-easier-travel-with-epileps.aspx. I would also check with your destination's embassy of the country you are traveling to and the layovers countries to make sure your medicines are permitted. Many countries allow a 30-day supply of certain medicines, but also require the traveler to carry a prescription or a medical certificate from their health care provider. Hope that answered your questions. I wish you good luck on your travels 👍

So I can bring 2 bottles of liquid Tylenol as long as the total is under 350ml?
@AlexgoesCoconuts
@AlexgoesCoconuts 2 года назад
The TSA allows you to bring as much liquid Tylenol as you need without any restrictions. Here is their exact rules copy pasted from their website: Medication in liquid form is allowed in carry-on bags in excess of 3.4 ounces in reasonable quantities for the flight. It is not necessary to place medically required liquids in a zip-top bag. However, you must tell the officer that you have medically necessary liquids at the start of the screening checkpoint process. Medically required liquids will be subject to additional screening that could include being asked to open the container. If traveling abroad, make sure to check the Air Transportation Security rules of that country before packing your carry-on bag. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching 😊

Amazing advice as always! I have a tip that I use that won’t apply to everyone but that works well for our family of six. In the U.S., most times when you fill a prescription, the pharmacy also provides a paper printout that is identical to the sticker label on the bottle: it has your name, the prescriber’s name, the name & description of the medication, etc. We have four kids with special needs who take multiple medications each…more than 15 medications in total. Provided that we are traveling to a destination that does not require that we use the original bottles, we take just what we need for the trip in travel containers, along with these paper printouts with the prescription information. I keep them with the medications so that they are clearly visible. For non-prescription medications, we have paper printouts from the products website that has the same information. I also keep screenshots of all of the prescriptions along with a picture of the medication on my phone. This is helpful not only while traveling but also to provide to anyone who needs to give my kids medicine if I’m not there. They can see exactly what to give and what it looks like. Even if we are using the original bottles, we still take only what we need for the trip plus a couple of extra. That way if something were to happen and we lose the medication, we don’t lose our entire supply, which could be up to a 90-day supply in some cases. Thanks again for such great information!

I'm traveling in December using just a carry-on for the first time ever. I want to make sure I'm able to take everything I need, my liquid toiletries and makeup aren't a problem by themselves, I'm pretty minimal but I do travel with some liquid over-the-counter meds such as Flonase, allergy eye drops, anbesol etc... these combined are going to exceed a quart ziplock. Are the meds OK in a separate ziplock?
@AlexgoesCoconuts
@AlexgoesCoconuts 2 года назад
Your liquid meds do not have to be put in your quart sized ziplock bag with your toiletries. They don’t even need to be pulled out of your carry on but sometimes security will ask you to open your bag if they see liquids in there so I usually place the meds in a separate ziplock and just pull that out at the same time to not slow down the line and to get through security quicker. Hope that answers your question. Have an amazing trip 👍
