Acute mountain sickness is common above 8000ft or 2700m.It also depend on rate of ascend & individual susceptibility.
HOW TO KNOW- It is characterize by symptoms like headache, dizziness, fatigue , appetite loss, breath shortage & general feeling of malaise.
TREATMENT - In high altitude sickness like HAPE & HACE common among ameteur climbers or trekkers . Traditionally it is cured by quick descend but in some scenario it's not possible.Hyperbaric portable chamber is a gamow bag is a modern technique in which pumping air inside a completely baric sealed bag is done to decrease altitude inside bag and increase oxygen density to feel patient normal & breathable.
CAUTION-
1.Keep Patient there for 2-3 hours before descend.
2. Patient ear should be fill with cotton to prevent high sound damage inside gamow bag
3. Initially pump faster but after floating it should be done slowly.
4.Air pressure guide w.r.t altitude is printed on HPC bag so that anyone can help.
5.Air removal from bag should be done slowly
PREVENTION-
1.Proper acclimatization should be there during each day of climbing
2.Divide your climbing or trekking in long duration .
3.Rate of ascend should be slower .
