We need to make some adjustments to the chicken roosts to make them work better. One of our year-old hens gets a crop impaction, and this one tip helped to cure it! Music: -www.bensound.com
Struggling with this right now. I gave her about 4ml of olive oil with some collidal silver but nothing has happened in the past 12 hours, any suggestions would be appreciated! She also seemed to have a tiny bit of fresh blood in her bowel movement I'm petrified to lose my girl
Blood in the stool could indicate coccidia. Without running a fecal you can't know for certain. For crop impaction, try massaging the oil in her crop every few hours to help loosen things up so they can pass. That's what has worked for me. Best of luck to you! Hope she pulls through. ❤️
I really wish you could explain what are you feeling for when massaging? Should the crop feel like granular or hard??my hen is also wheezing when she exerts herself. If anyone here could help me assessing an impacted crop
It's very firm when impacted. (Keep in mind that they usually fill their crops pretty full at night, but by morning it should be empty again. If it isn't empty in morning, there's a block.) The massage is to help move the oil around and loosen things up so they can get flowing again. Best of luck!
Hard to tell what you say when you srart speakin fast and quiet .. as in at 0:58 and later. I know you know what you're saying...it's not just you!...is something a lot of folks do. Probably wasn't awfully impt but I kind of wanted to mention it for the future. Lucky you, having honeysuckle!!
So sorry about that. I do tend to be a fast talker.😕 Gotta work on that. Hope you were able to hear well enough to get any help you needed. We have TONS of honeysuckle. The chickens love eating the berries in fall. What do you use them for?
