Dear Nerida, I have noticed that “thickening”’ of skin happens a lot with oily skin types. I would say large pores and thickening kind of almost always go together as one condition. It’s like you are trying to soften the skin but it’s so thickened and hard to the touch especially areas around the nose cheeks and forehead. And when oil production is tremendously decreased pore size is left the same and person is basically left with that “orange peel” skin. I always wonder what would cause that thickening?sun?pollution?or not proper home care routine?

It is my understanding that inflammation is caused by processed foods that are high on the glycemic index. Is the inflammation you are talking about skin specific?

Hi Nerida! This was such a wonderful and helpful video to me. I live in Melbourne where the sun currently is really strong. I am having a hard time use any sunscreen(minerals and chemical) that work for me because they seem all clog my pores on my forehead. I don’t have acne at all and from all the video and information I have learnt from your video, I think I have surface dehydrated skin because when I stretch my skin even just a little bit, I can see the lines you were talking about in the video. And I also have clogged pores on my forehead and on my nose. I think because my skin surface is dry, the sebum can’t come up to the surface and real ease themselves easily because the surface is really dry. I have seen a very professional esthetician named Richie Angelo in Melbourne and she told me my skin is surface dehydrated thus when she tried to extract my pores, the harden bits were hard to come out. So my experience is very similar to this lady in your video I was wondering what kind of regimen I can follow to maintain a healthy clog pore free skin. And I have another question,sometimes when I am massaging my forehead I can get the harden bits to come out of the pores and the pores become emptied out just by my massage. But I always wonder if I should massage them out or should I let them be there and like wait for them to “fall off” like healed scabs? Hope you understand what I am trying to ask here. Hi Nerida! I gave my client some samples of the healing gel and exfoliating mask. She has rosacea as well and is only exfoliating once a week. She said her skin has gotten more red after using it. My skin is surface dry but combination, and the oil gets hardened under my pores on my nose and chin. I bought the k cleanser and have glycolic and retinol products. Nothing seems to work. I love to hydrate my skin but it seems like nothing works to get my surface more hydrated. Any ideas? I’m an esthetician and feel like I do everything right and use great products!
